Which is your fave? My list and my husbands

So hubby and I have very different tastes with names. I don’t really like many on his list and vice versa. What one or two names below are your faves? We have looked at these names so much we’re not objective anymore so seeking opinions of people who aren’t family! We’re in Australia.

[name_f]Emily[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]

I LOVE [name_f]Layla[/name_f] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f] from your list! [name_f]My[/name_f] favorites from your DH’s list are [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_u]Anne[/name_u]! You have some very strong contenders here!

My favourites are Amelie (my daughter’s name) and Freya (a contender for my daughter’s name!). Overall, though, I prefer your list to your husband’s. I’m not really a fan of any of the other names on his list (actually, I do quite like Sienna, although I prefer it spelt Siena) whereas on yours I also quite like Daisy, Lottie and Emme.

You both have some great options! I love [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] from your list and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] from your husband’s. For what it’s worth, I think [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] would make a darling combo!

I don’t know if you’re looking for any suggestions, but, if you are, these are some I might suggest for you both, perhaps for some fresh inspiration:
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
[name_f]Liana[/name_f]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]

From your list I like [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Emme[/name_f] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f].

From his list I like [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] (although I prefer [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]), [name_f]Emily[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_f]Sienna[/name_f].

Both of you seem to have [name_f]Em[/name_f] names on your list and perhaps you could find a common name that you like from there?

I wouldn’t say your lists are that different! I like [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] best. Some suggestions:

Nora
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Mia[/name_f]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Evie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]

Your lists actually seem pretty compatible to me–hopefully you’ll be able to find a good middle ground without too much compromise! [name_f]My[/name_f] favorites from your list are [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], and [name_f]Emme[/name_f]; from his list, my top picks would be [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f], and [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]. For a potential tie-breaker, maybe:

Emery
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] “[name_f]Emme[/name_f]”
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Millie[/name_f]

From your list, I love [name_f]Freya[/name_f], and from your husband’s, [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f]. I actually think you have compatible styles and shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a name you both like.

Some ideas:

I agree with some PP’s, I don’t think you’re tastes are that different.

From your list I like:
[name_f]Layla[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Emme[/name_f]

From his:
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f]

Suggestions (they’re probably all listed already, so just count them as seconded ):
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]/[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]

[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Bella[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Maya[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] (I love this for you guys!)
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]

Is Annavelle a name or misspelling? If you mean [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], it’s definitely my favourite of all.

I love [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] from your list
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] from his list (I think my style is closer to his :slightly_smiling_face:)

:point_up_2: Good idea!

I love [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f].

I agree with pp’s that your lists don’t really seem that far apart. I say that because each of your lists contain some of my favorite names. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Emily[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f]. Some possible compromise:

Azelie nn [name_f]Zelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lena[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Emme[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Delia[/name_f]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
Sylvie
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Savannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_f]Verona[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]

From your list I like [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_f]Layla[/name_f] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f], although I must admit I prefer [name_f]Leila[/name_f] to [name_f]Layla[/name_f], pronounce is the same, just different spelling.
However the one that stands out to me is [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f].
All the names from your husband’s list are good, solid and classic names, except for [name_f]Sienna[/name_f], which I find just popular and nothing special or classic at all imo.
The one that stands out is [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]. Beautiful and classy. Would you pronounce it in the [name_f]English[/name_f] or [name_u]French[/name_u] way? I’m for the french, it adds more elegance to the beauty of the name.

At the end for me it’s between [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f].

Ohhhh Thanks so much! And yes, there is a typo in [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] :stuck_out_tongue:

We have already used [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] with our other children and our dogs are [name_f]Millie[/name_f] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] which were all suggested (along with a couple of our nieces names) but nice to know we are on a similar track.

From your list, I like:
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Emme[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]

From yiur husbands list, i like
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]

Emmeline ‘[name_f]Emme[/name_f]’, [name_f]Thea[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] might bridge the gap

Yours: [name_f]Layla[/name_f] & [name_f]Lola[/name_f]. Both gorgeous, love the sound and feel to these names. I slightly prefer [name_f]Layla[/name_f] because I find that [name_f]Lola[/name_f]'s meaning is a little bit too dark and it throws me off.

Husband’s:
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] & [name_f]Eva[/name_f]. (If [name_f]Eva[/name_f] is said ee-va and not aye-va) I love both of these very much, modern popularity yet elegant feel to them both.

Overall: [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. just a stunningly gorgeous name that I don’t think you can go wrong with, access to nicknames like [name_f]Emi[/name_f] make it so cute and appealing for babies, but wears well into older age as well.

Obviously just my opinions

Much luck to you in this decision!! :purple_heart:
-[name_f]Vera[/name_f]

My favourite names from your list are [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and from your husband’s [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f].

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

Nice lists! I don’t think that your & your husband’s lists are really all that different. I’m not too familiar w/the popularity in Australia, so I’ll just comment on how I feel on the names popularity aside.

Here are my rankings-

  1. [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]-This is on my short list too. It has special meaning to me, but I think that it’s just so darn sweet. [name_m]How[/name_m] could you not love a [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]? It has beautiful imagery too, which I think is part of the charm.

  2. [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]-This is just a little bit exotic, but also sweet & smart. Is it popular there? I hear it rarely in the U.S.

  3. [name_f]Freya[/name_f]-This is smart, kind & down to earth. It’s simple & a little bit exotic being a mythical name.

  4. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]-This is charming. It’s a little spunky & witty. It’s feminine w/out being frilly. It’s simple & well known, but I don’t hear it a ton.

  5. [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]-This is smart & pretty. [name_f]Millie[/name_f] is a cute nn too.

  6. [name_f]Emily[/name_f]-This is a nice classic w/a sweet smart sound.

  7. [name_f]Anna[/name_f]-A good solid classic. Pretty, kind & smart.

  8. [name_f]Lola[/name_f]-I kind of prefer this as a nn, but it’s so fun & spunky. I like it as a nn for [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f] or [name_f]Louisa[/name_f].

  9. [name_f]Eva[/name_f]-This is pretty & elegant. Simple & nice sounding. The nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is just darling. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite part of [name_f]Eva[/name_f].

  10. [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]-I really prefer this as a nn too, but it’s cute.

  11. [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]-Not my favorite, but not bad. It’s just a little too dark & dramatic sounding to me.

  12. [name_f]Layla[/name_f]-It has a pretty sound, but it’s just kind of trendy.

  13. [name_f]Sienna[/name_f]-I don’t really know why I don’t care for this, but it just doesn’t do much for me. Kind of trendy. I just prefer classics.

  14. Annavelle-This kind of sounds like a not name to me, but at least it has sweet nns of [name_f]Anna[/name_f] & [name_f]Annie[/name_f].

  15. [name_f]Emme[/name_f]-[name_m]Way[/name_m] too nick-namey in my opinion. And I just don’t care for it anyway for some reason even though I quite like [name_f]Emily[/name_f], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] & [name_f]Emma[/name_f].

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

Here are my top 3 for each!

Your list:

  • Freya - There’s something very dreamy about this name and I think it ages beautifully.
  • Lola - I prefer this as a nickname ([name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] being my favorite long names) but love how spunky it is.
  • Scarlett - Timeless and beautiful.

Your husbands list

  • Amelie - This is beautiful! Probably my favorite from both lists.
  • Emily - I’ve always loved [name_f]Emily[/name_f] and haven’t seen it used nearly as much as I used to lately. Could you possibly use your suggestion of [name_f]Emme[/name_f] as a nickname?
  • Anna - [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is one of my favorite names and has been on nearly every short list of mine, so I’m awfully biased, but I think there’s something so beautiful and charming about it.
