Two lovely names, you have great taste. [name]Cordelia[/name] got my vote as it came very close to being my daughter’s name: elegant, rare but familiar, prouncable and a noble Shakespearean namesake, this name has everything you could want. [name]Anne[/name] of [name]Green[/name] Gables dreamt of being called [name]Cordelia[/name].
My vote went to [name]Eloise[/name] because I think it is elegant and would really compliment a big sister [name]Violet[/name]. I also love the combo [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] whereas I think [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] is stuck in early 1900’s aristocrisy. I know an [name]Eloise[/name] who goes by her full name almost all of the time and doesn’t use a nickname, I also don’t think it will become too popular in the future
Thanks ladies! Yeah, I really love both of these names and both have been long time favorites of mine. With [name]Eloise[/name] I do worry about the popularity of the [name]Elle[/name] names, But still, this name is so sweet and vintage. [name]Cordelia[/name] has the A ending that I like (as does the nn [name]Delia[/name]). I can see my little girl with either of these names though! haha
With [name]Robby[/name] and [name]Violet[/name], I love [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] (or even [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]!). I think it’s lovely. Although I prefer the nn [name]Cora[/name] to all the ones you listed.
I voted for [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] - I love her with [name]Violet[/name]!
Thanks! I do think [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] is just about the perfect match with her big sis [name]Violet[/name] :). I [name]LOVE[/name] it and it feels like her for some reason. But [name]Cordelia[/name] nn [name]Delia[/name] is really pulling at my heart strings too. hmmm
Yes, I see what you mean - [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] is just stunning!
It was a tough choice for me because I really like both [name]Cordelia[/name] and [name]Eloise[/name]. [name]Cordelia[/name] is a great name and I love how uncommon it is. I love its nickname potential ([name]Cora[/name] and [name]Coco[/name] are my favorites.) [name]Cordelia[/name] has been on my list the longest and I don’t think I could ever give it up even though my hubby isn’t really on board with it. [name]Eloise[/name] is nice and I am very surprised it is not more popular where I live. I live in a french community and this name has never really caught on here, which I find odd. That’s probably why I love it so much.
Anyway, ultimately [name]Cordelia[/name] got my vote because it is a long time favorite of mine and it stands out amongst all the Elles/Ellas/Bellas/Annas/Emilys/Emmas which are so tired and overused.
[name]Eloise[/name] by a mile for me. Perfectly matched with [name]Violet[/name]. [name]Love[/name] nn options Lo or [name]Lola[/name] if you want to escape all the Ellies. Yes it’s rising in popularity, so is [name]Violet[/name], but that doesn’t bother me a bit, they’re gaining for good reason, they’re lovely names!
Oh that’s another reason why I love [name]Eloise[/name] so much. It feels beautiful and French to me, which goes really nicely with her big sis.
That’s a good point! Maybe I should steer away from the [name]Elle[/name] nn and go straight for Lo and [name]Lola[/name] as the go to nn’s with Eloise. Not sure…but still love Cordelia/Delia as well. Tough decision ahead for sure!
[name]Cordelia[/name] because of the [name]Anne[/name] of [name]Green[/name] Gables reference.
[name]Eloise[/name] got my vote!
I picked [name]Cordelia[/name] because its on my favorite’s list. I would name a daughter [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]. [name]Eloise[/name] just isn’t my cup of tea. But both are classic and pretty and you can’t go wrong with either. I personally wouldn’t worry too much about nicknames. I read two series of books with two characters called [name]Eloise[/name] and usually everyone called both by the full name. (plus everyone in my family goes by their full names.) I suggest letting the her pick her own nicknames or seeing what develops.
Thanks berries! Emilyva - Would you mined telling me what books you are reading that have [name]Eloise[/name] as a character? I’ve been searching for some books I can read to get more associations with this name. Thank you And I agree, I think [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] is an awesome, awesome name too. [name]Love[/name] it
Hmm so has anyone read the [name]Delia[/name] book series? Seems to have gotten pretty good reviews. Think I’ll start on those to get a better feel for the name :). Oh and my dh is coming around to [name]Cordelia[/name], yay!
Whoa…[name]Cordelia[/name] and [name]Eloise[/name] were our front-runners for if my last baby was a girl! There are actually a bunch of threads started by me trying to choose between them, haha. And I have a daughter named [name]Violet[/name]! You must have good taste. But I’d say I love them equally but going by your nickname choices (we were going to call [name]Cordelia[/name] “[name]Cora[/name]” most of the time or [name]Eloise[/name] “[name]Elsie[/name]” most of the time), [name]Cordelia[/name] is definitely the better choice. [name]Delia[/name] is very distinctive, just as beautiful and classic as [name]Elle[/name] but much less popular. [name]Elle[/name] is a very popular nickname nowadays with all the Ellas, Ellerys, Ellisons, etc. but [name]Delia[/name] is very unique. And just as beautiful! [name]Both[/name] options are amazing though. [name]Hope[/name] this helped!
[name]Cordelia[/name] is stunning. The “[name]El[/name]” names are very popular and the “[name]Ellie[/name]” nn even more so, as mamabear25 pointed out. Popularity doesn’t prevent me from liking a name… but [name]Cordelia[/name] is such a beautiful choice.
I voted for [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] - it is light and airy, a good match with [name]Violet[/name]. [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] feels heavy for some reason.
