We are due with our first baby in [name_u]March[/name_u]. We don’t find out gender for another few weeks, but I’m trying to gather some ideas in case it is boy. So I was hoping you could help us with some opinions and suggestions. Middle name will most likely be [name_m]John[/name_m], to honor a family member. These are the names on our list currently.
I think my favorite right now is [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]. Still trying to completely sell it to hubby. I like that it has Latin roots, and so it works well in most languages. My husband and I know four languages between the two of us (English, Italian, Spanish, Polish), so I like that it could work in all languages. All though this isn’t of key importance, as we usually are just speaking English. We love [name_m]Liam[/name_m] but are concerned about exactly how popular it is getting. [name_m]Callen[/name_m] is my husbands favorite. I like the nickname [name_u]Cal[/name_u], but just not sold on it. We both like [name_m]Declan[/name_m]. But our parents don’t love it, which is a bummer. People I have told tell me it sounds like declaw or decathalon. So that is sort of frustrating. But I still think its cute, and [name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] is handsome. What is your favorite of these? And other suggestions are welcome!
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is my favourite too! The rest don’t appeal to me at all. [name_m]Liam[/name_m] is overused and [name_m]Callen[/name_m] and [name_m]Declan[/name_m] are very trendy.
I love your style! I really love them all. I actually find [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] to be the most popular of the group right now. I really love [name_m]Callen[/name_m]!
All are great choices! Perhaps [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] instead of [name_m]Declan[/name_m]? It still has the strong ‘D’ sound, and similar heritage, plus literary and music references.
I like all of your choices! [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is a classic and, though others have pointed to the trendiness of your other favorites, they’re not made-up names; they have a history.
If family opinion sways you, then you’ll need to let those names go. Personally, my DH and I stopped caring about other people’s opinions after realizing there is NO name on earth that he and I loved AND pleased all of our parents. No matter what you choose, everyone will love your son
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is just a classic with which you can’t go wrong, but I’ve really taken a fancy to [name_m]Declan[/name_m] lately - I don’t think it sounds very trendy at all, really, though it might be (I don’t know)
Thanks everyone! I just love [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]- I hope my husband will warm up to it more. He seems on the fence with.everything but [name_m]Callen[/name_m]. I really love [name_m]Declan[/name_m] the more I think about it too. And that is a very good point. It is hard enough for the two of us to agree on a name, nevermind all of the parents as well!! I guess this is a good base list to go off of, and I can narrow it down further once we find out for sure if it is a boy or not- 18 more days!!
I love [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]! It feels very British, charming and gentlemanly. People will grow to love the name after they meet your son- and also, whether or not they like the name isn’t going to have any bearing on whether or not they like him as a person.
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] or [name_m]Callen[/name_m] (nn [name_u]Cal[/name_u]). I know four [name_m]Declan[/name_m]'s born since [name_u]March[/name_u] of this year in two circles of friends. I’ve never been a fan of [name_m]Liam[/name_m]. [name_m]William[/name_m] is better as is.
