Which little girl name should I pick?

  • [name_f]Constance[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f]
  • [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]
  • [name_f]Trudy[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
  • Lumen
  • [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]

Which one do you like the most? the least? any suggestions for other names?

[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is the only one of these that I would consider. I really like it!

I love [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]! [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] would probably be my top pick. The only one in not a fan of is Lumen

Some suggestions:
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] or just [name_f]Ginny[/name_f]
[name_f]Luella[/name_f]
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]
[name_f]Edie[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]

I absolutely love [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f].

Hello! You have several great options. I’m going to reserve commentary on [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] because of a personal association.

[name_u]Love[/name_u]
[name_f]Theodosia[/name_f]: This name is stunning. It is so strong and regal, and very unique.
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]: Charming, sunny, and with a relaxed yet dignified vibe.

Like:
Lumen: This has such bright, sweet connotations, and I do like it. However, I prefer [name_f]Lumina[/name_f] or Lumena.
[name_f]Constance[/name_f]: This is quite a serious, old-fashioned name, but I do like the tone and gravity.
[name_u]Marlow[/name_u]: Seems more unisex than most of the names you like, but I think it has a modern-cool feel and an appealing sound.

Dislike:
[name_f]Trudy[/name_f]: I’m sorry, but I just can’t see this one. It feels quite dated and old-ladyish to me, and I don’t think it’s as elegant as your other choices.

Suggestions:
[name_f]Judy[/name_f]/[name_f]Judith[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]/[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]
[name_f]Verity[/name_f]
[name_f]Charity[/name_f]
[name_u]Marian[/name_u]/[name_f]Mariana[/name_f]
[name_f]Carina[/name_f]/[name_f]Catriona[/name_f]
[name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophronia[/name_f]
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f]
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f]
[name_f]Leocadia[/name_f]
[name_f]Blanche[/name_f]/[name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucretia[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Virginia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]/[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]

I really like [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], though I prefer [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] without the e at the end.

[name_f]Trudy[/name_f] is kind of cute and unexpected, but I think would be harder for her to pull off as a teenager or adult (I’m envisioning [name_f]Trudy[/name_f] with a first love or a first job and something about those images doesn’t click well for me.)

[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] on the other hand, is a lovely name for an adult. I picture a classy business woman or teacher for some reason.

Lumen is just ok for me. [name_m]Just[/name_m] makes me think of light bulbs. I prefer [name_f]Luna[/name_f] to Lumen.

[name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] also feels a little fussy to me (sorry, just giving my honest opinion). Have you considered [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]? I know a 2 year old [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] that mostly goes by [name_f]Thea[/name_f] and I just [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name on her… It’s so sweet and unexpected, but not too cutesy that it won’t work once she has grown up.

Best of luck deciding!!!

I like [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and think [name_f]Trudy[/name_f] has a quirky, retro charm to it.

I love [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f].

I dislike [name_f]Constance[/name_f]. [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] and Lumen seem quite different to your other names.

[name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] is my favorite and [name_f]Trudy[/name_f] is my least favorite here.

I think what you choose depends on what you really want:

Short, straightforward, and sleek like [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], [name_f]Constance[/name_f], and [name_f]Trudy[/name_f]

Or frilly and bright like [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], And [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f].

As for Lumen, I can’t find any information on it as a given name. It appears to be a unit of measurement for light, which is pretty neat and I can see working well as a name, but this would certainly be a more modern choice than the rest of your list which leans vintage.

Your names orderd from most to least favorite:
[name_f]Theodosia[/name_f]
[name_f]Constance[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
Lumen
[name_f]Trudy[/name_f]

I absolutely love Lumen, it’s a big guilty pleasure name of mine! However, I’ve asked about it before on these forums and found out that it’s a medical term for the inside of a blood vessel or other bodily tube/tract, which is a pretty unappealing association.

[name_f]Constance[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] are therefore my favourites on your list: both soft yet striking and a little bit daring without being weird. [name_f]Constance[/name_f] is adorably solid and serious (but with potential for sweet nicknames like [name_f]Coco[/name_f] and [name_u]Connie[/name_u]), while [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is bright, sunny and hippyish. Depends which way you want to go!

I’d add…

[name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Romilly[/name_f]/[name_u]Romy[/name_u]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Verity[/name_f]
[name_f]Temperance[/name_f]
[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]/[name_f]Margo[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Thessaly[/name_f]
[name_f]Ferelith[/name_f]
[name_f]Mavis[/name_f]
[name_f]Fenella[/name_f]

My favourites are [name_f]Trudy[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]!

Not a fan of Lumen.
[name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] seems too fussy.
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is the outlier of the list (a little trendy??)
[name_f]Constance[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] I like

All the best

I like [name_f]Constance[/name_f] and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] by far the best. I’d go for [name_f]Constance[/name_f] as it will age better — and [name_f]Coco[/name_f] or [name_u]Connie[/name_u] are sweet nn’s.

[name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] is lovely in theory but the “zj” sound is going to trip up people and it’s full-on. [name_f]Trudy[/name_f] is dated and not well, imo. Like [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] but better as a middle as no good nicknames. Lumen is too medico for me ([name_f]Lumi[/name_f] might be an option?). [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is nice but too popular where I’m from so it’s lost some sparkle for me. I also prefer [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] or [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] to [name_u]Clem[/name_u]. Good luck!

[name_f]Constance[/name_f] jumps out as my favorite. It simple, strong, gentle, feminine, elegant, and unexpected. I would love to meet a little [name_f]Constance[/name_f]! [name_f]Constance[/name_f] is a strong number one for me, but my second choice would be [name_f]Felicity[/name_f].

My favorites are [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]! Both happy, bold, girly names with history. I also like the gravitas of [name_f]Constance[/name_f], especially with the nickname [name_f]Tansy[/name_f] or [name_f]Tancy[/name_f].

I sort of like [name_f]Trudy[/name_f] as a retro nickname, but I think I would want her to have a full name to fall back on. [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is not my favorite, but it has a pretty sound and there’s nothing wrong with it, either. I prefer [name_f]Lumi[/name_f] to Lumen. I don’t like [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] at all – too much name!

My favourites are [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. I love the nns [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] provide and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is such an awesome, modern name imo.

I love [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] and Lumen, but they’re very different, so I would go with the one that’s more your normal style, which looks like it’s possibly [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f].

Unpopular opinion: I like [name_f]Constance[/name_f] the best. My naming style is a bit more traditional than that of the other posters. It’s a little grandiose, but I don’t like very out of the ordinary names, so I don’t like [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_u]Marlow[/name_u], [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f], Lumen, or [name_f]Trudy[/name_f]. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is okay, but people might side-eye parents who name their kids something like [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f], Lumen, or [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. Again, I am aware that my opinion is very unpopular, and majority rules, but that’s just my input.

I personally love [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] but would drop the “e”

[name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] is my favourite, but [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is a close second. I like them all.

Suggestions

[name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Prudence[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], but prefer [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] to [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] (though I definitely prefer the masculine [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]). The others I’m not really a fan of
