I selected [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]. I think that each of these four are good names and you couldn’t go wrong using any of them, but there’s just something about [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] that stuck out to me. The spelling is pleasing to my eye, it has a fun sound, and I love the “fairy tale” feel of it. It makes me think of a little girl, playing in a field, looking for little creatures and that imagery makes me fall in love with it.
My vote goes to [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] as well! I get a wonderful fantasy vibe from it, like a little girl running barefoot through a dewey field of flowers. [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] is lovely and fresher than [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] (though that would be my second choice), especially if you want the nickname [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]. I also think [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] ‘[name_u]Nev[/name_u]’ is really sweet if you like that.
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] gmv - I love the lenghty frillyness of it, but also how it feels light and sweet. It’s really girly, but there’s such a variety of nicknames - [name_u]Clem[/name_u], [name_f]Emmy[/name_f], [name_f]Mina[/name_f], [name_f]Tina[/name_f], [name_u]Kit[/name_u], [name_u]Clemmie[/name_u] etc. that it feels versatile
I absolutely love [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] so my vote goes to her. I really like all four names though! [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] is so regal, [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is sweet, and [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] is fun. But [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] is whimsical and serious at the same time, and just stunning all around.
I much prefer the sweet, spunky, sunny [name_f]Clementine[/name_f].
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] gmv! As others have said, she’s very regal and classy.
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] is nms, I find her kinda harsh to say. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is also nms but I think she’s too sweet, in a stomachache sort of way. [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] is okay but I only like her with the nickname [name_f]Winnie[/name_f].
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] is so unexpected, literary, and magical with nicknames [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], [name_f]Neve[/name_f], and [name_f]Vera[/name_f] to ground her. I would love to meet a [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]!
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]! It’s such a huge love of mine. Dramatic, regal, mystical, with a stunning sound, great backstory and loads of lovely options for shortening.
I also think [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is lovely — very bright, sweet and youthful.
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is one of my favourite names of all time
[name_u]Clem[/name_u] [name_u]Clemmie[/name_u] [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] [name_f]Emme[/name_f] [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] [name_f]Minty[/name_f] [name_f]Tina[/name_f] [name_f]Mina[/name_f]
Thank you for all the responses and votes! I’m surprised to see [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] pulling ahead.
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] - love saying it and love the contrast with the no-nonsense, almost dowdy (but super cool), [name_f]Gwen[/name_f].
I’m a [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] fan-- love the nn [name_u]Clemmie[/name_u] and the tie to [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Churchill[/name_m] too (it was his wife’s name).
@eloiset: Thanks! I agree about [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]'s feel. I like a bit of no-nonsense in my girl names, more so than frills that is. Of course that’s not always, since I do have some more saccharine picks that I love.
I voted for [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] because of its rich mythical history and beautiful sound. I also like [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and think it would work; out of interest, are you pronouncing it ClemenTEEN or ClemenTYNE?
I’m not a fan of [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], especially as the ‘y’ makes this the male form of the name in Welsh (the female name is [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]). [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] could work, but its -[name_m]Fred[/name_m] ending has always made it seem more masculine (not that I’d ever use it for a boy!).
I love [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] with the nn [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]. Nn’s are important with long names and the others don’t give themselves to easy nicknames. I think [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] is too severe. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is an orange and I actually like [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] with nn [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] but it feels old.
@josephinedagnall: I’m pronouncing it Clemen-[name_f]TYNE[/name_f] since that’s how people around here would most likely say it. I am partial to the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation, but it’s unrealistic that it would catch on easy where I live.
It was a tie between [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Winifred[/name_f], I love both so much!
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] and [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] both have serious potential.
I voted for Guinevere, she has such a magical air about her that I adore. Clementine would be my second pick. She’s spunky and bright - such a happy name!
I really do like all of these, however!
