I picked just [name_f]Mary[/name_f], I also think [name_f]Margot[/name_f] would be a nice way to honor a [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f] is just darling
This was tough for me, seeing that I adore both [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Marie[/name_f] as first names. But since you’re honoring a [name_f]Mary[/name_f], simply using [name_f]Mary[/name_f] would be my choice.
I’ll rank them:
Though my favorite name to honor a [name_f]Mary[/name_f] would be [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
I voted for [name_f]Marie[/name_f] =] but I also really like the name [name_f]Mariah[/name_f], if that’s your style.
I love [name_f]Marie[/name_f]! I don’t see it nearly often enough as a first name.
To me, [name_u]Marion[/name_u] is the prettiest name. It reminds me of bells ringing, and sunlit woods. Very fresh. It feels kind and strong, feminine but sophisticated.
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f], though, is my favourite, for personal reasons. First, the sound of it it reminds me of water running over rocks in a stream or brook… and then there’s the Bible story of [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] in which water imagery is prominent. So, to me, it’s an evocative name.
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] is pretty… but it’s too loaded to be just pretty, without all kinds of other associations! There are many qualities that come to mind about [name_f]Mary[/name_f] - for everyone all over the world - far before pretty.
In the end I voted for [name_f]Marie[/name_f], because most people find it to be very pretty, including myself. It’s simple, sweet, and it’s quaint but more modern sounding than [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], for example.
I agree - although [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is nice too (the others are not my style).
I picked [name_f]Marie[/name_f] as it is adorable but my favourite [name_f]Mary[/name_f] name is [name_f]Mollie[/name_f]
It is a pet form of both [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
I chose [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Maria[/name_f] would be the prettiest.
I would simply use [name_f]Mary[/name_f], but the other choices are pretty, too
After consideration, I chose [name_f]Marie[/name_f]. It was tough between that and [name_f]Mary[/name_f].
Out of your list, I like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Miriam[/name_f]. I also think [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] with [name_f]Mary[/name_f] as a nickname could work. So many [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] variations you could choose from.
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f] is sweet, and the nn [name_f]Miri[/name_f] is just adorable.
I’d say:
[name_f]Marie[/name_f] got my vote (surprisingly!). My own mn is [name_f]Marie[/name_f] and I’ve hated it for as long as I can remember, but it does seem very pretty on paper. I love its dainty [name_m]French[/name_m] feel in comparison to the other choices. I like [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] a lot (and [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Miri[/name_f]!), but it feels more spunky as opposed to pretty. [name_u]Marion[/name_u]/[name_u]Marian[/name_u] is still too middle-aged for me to find attractive yet, unfortunately (although I do love [name_f]Mariana[/name_f])–it seems rather clunky, although it does have some lovely associations. And [name_f]Mary[/name_f], to me, is sweet but unexpected. Not really clunky, or really beautiful, either, but very sweet.
I think [name_f]Maria[/name_f], [name_f]Marina[/name_f], [name_f]Mariana[/name_f], [name_f]Marielle[/name_f], or even [name_f]Maja[/name_f] would make great additions to this list, as well, if you’re looking for them!
Good luck!
You really cannot go wrong here, all beautiful choices. [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is so refreshing in the first name spot rather than her usual middle placement.
Ultimately, I voted for [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. It is so classic.
