[name_f]Margery[/name_f] (while not my favorite of the names listed) seems to fit best with your other choices, especially with [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]. Definitely sound like sisters to me.
I agree that [name_f]Margery[/name_f] fits rather nicely, with her combination of medieval intrigue and 1920s schoolgirl charm. I could picture [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] “[name_f]Rosie[/name_f]”, [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Odelia[/name_f], [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] “[name_f]Ginny[/name_f]” and [name_f]Margery[/name_f] “[name_f]Meg[/name_f]” as five sisters who spend their time riding horses, exploring caves and piecing together local lore - tales of smugglers and treasure, of star-crossed lovers and magical beasts.
On the other hand, they all fit so well that you should just go with the one you like the most - they will make a smashing sibset in any case.
[name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] for sure. It’s equally offbeat and gorgeous.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Margery[/name_f], on its own and with those names.
I voted for [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] and I also really like [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] for you! I’m also drawn to [name_f]Margot[/name_f], in particular to balance out [name_f]Iris[/name_f] a bit length- and style-wise, as I feel like it’s a bit of the odd one out among the other names.
[name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] or [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Meg[/name_f]!
[name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] is my second favorite on the list but fits best with that sibling set.
Thank you, everyone! Some really helpful comments here.
@kew - That imagery is fabulous!! I’ve always thought of my top names as being quite princess-y and a little how-would-this-actually-work-in-real-life-ish but your description definitely fits and gives me a completely different view of them that I really enjoy.
@moonstoneand @amoser - I do like [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] in this sibset, I guess my problem is that I don’t really want to upgrade her to first name status when she’s still a middle name in my top combo for [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f]. Bit of a dilemma!
@katinka - [name_f]Meg[/name_f] is just so sweet and fierce, isn’t she? And there’s so many lovely names that she could be a nn for. I’m finding it really difficult to find one - or even two - that I like better than the others!
@nerea - Hmm, that’s a good point about [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. I don’t really mind about it because although she’s only two syllables she seems to pack a hefty enough punch to stand up to the other names. My main hesitation with [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], apart from her being more classic / traditional than I usually go for, is that she doesn’t hold her weight as well with the others.
@cookiecrumbs and @wandsworth - I have to agree that [name_f]Margery[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] fit really well together! If I could say I’m veering towards one or two names, [name_f]Margery[/name_f] would probably be one of them, if only because I could get the nn [name_f]Merry[/name_f] from her too (which I also love).
More votes and/or comments would be great, particularly as the poll results are very close and keep changing!
Another thing, is that is you like [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f], you can just use [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] as [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is its diminutive.
Sidenote: My younger sister is a [name_f]Megan[/name_f], and I call her [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] because [name_f]Megan[/name_f] is a welsh form of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] is the french form, and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is the diminutive (and [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] is a variation). [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is another [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] nickname as well.
I voted for [name_f]Margot[/name_f], but I also love [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]! I like [name_f]Margery[/name_f] too, but I vastly prefer the spelling [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f].
Thank you all for your votes and comments! I’ve just about whittled down the list to [name_f]Margery[/name_f], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], and [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], and will do another poll to rank those.
