I am planning to get pregnant with my second (and final) child in the fall of 2013… a while off still so my dh won’t talk with me about names. But anyways I was recently thinking about what I would name a daughter and I’ve fallen in love with [name]Antonia[/name], and well dh says it’s ok. It would be an honor name for my late father, [name]Anthony[/name]. His middle name started with a G and I think that I would like to use a G name for my hypothetical future daughter. I would enjoy seeing your opinions and suggestions for a G middle name for [name]Antonia[/name].
or maybe [name]Antonia[/name] [name]Jean[/name] , [name]Jeanette[/name], [name]Jane[/name], or [name]Joan[/name] since the G stood for [name]Gene[/name]. What do you think? [name]Do[/name] you like any of the combinations? Oh and the last name sounds kind of like Wheelie-hen.
[name]Antonia[/name] [name]Garland[/name]
[name]Antonia[/name] [name]Gemma[/name]
[name]Antonia[/name] [name]Georgina[/name]
[name]Antonia[/name] [name]Gertrude[/name]
[name]Antonia[/name] [name]Gioia[/name] ([name]JOY[/name]-a)
[name]Antonia[/name] [name]Gloria[/name]
[name]Antonia[/name] Griselys (grey warrior)
[name]Antonia[/name] Gweneira (snow white) (nn. [name]Gwen[/name] or [name]Eira[/name]) I know some people don’t like the double a ending, but I think it works here.
I’d go with [name]Antonia[/name] [name]Gwen[/name]. It’s a lovely way to honor your father. If you have a boy, [name]Anthony[/name] [name]Glen[/name] or [name]Anthony[/name] [name]George[/name] would be nice!
[name]Antonia[/name] is a lovely name and I agree that it needs a one syllable middle name as otherwise I feel the name would be too long.
[name]Antonia[/name] [name]Grace[/name] or [name]Antonia[/name] [name]Jean[/name] would make a lovely name! And I adore that you are honouring your late father, such a sweet thing to do.
[name]Bree[/name]
I like [name]Antonia[/name] [name]Gwen[/name] and [name]Antonia[/name] [name]Grace[/name], both sweet and simple middle names for a less common first name.
Thanks for the responses everyone! I had the same feeling that the middle should be short, but I don’t really like the short names with the full name, except for [name]Grace[/name] which is probably the #1 middle name for girls right now. I really like the suggestions of [name]Giovanna[/name] and Gweneira. But in reality I will probably use [name]Jean[/name], [name]Gwendolen[/name] or [name]Grace[/name]
I really like [name]Anthony[/name] [name]Glen[/name]. I was actually thinking that if I had another son I would not name him after my dad, only a daughter. The biggest reason for this is that I don’t typically like A names for boys and because if I had a son I would give him the same last name as his dad and brother and if I had a girl I would give her my surname which I kept after marriage so it was my fathers surname as well, but [name]Anthony[/name] [name]Glen[/name] is very nice and I would consider it.
[name]Glad[/name] to see some love for [name]Antonia[/name] [name]Gillian[/name]! That would honor a woman who I have always called my grandma too, but I thought it might seem like an awkward combination to others
Since you’re already using the female version of your father’s name, I don’t think you need to use [name]Jean[/name] as a mn. [name]Antonia[/name] [name]Grace[/name] looks and sounds pretty! I don’t care if some people think of “[name]Grace[/name]” as a “filler” mn name because it’s gorgeous.
Yes I must agree that [name]Grace[/name] fits the best in style and sound. [name]Antonia[/name] [name]Grace[/name] “[name]Willy[/name]-hen”… [name]Gwen[/name] sounds nice too, but not with the surname, I think. [name]Jean[/name] would maybe make it too close to exactly the same name as my father, it is also my middle name, my paternal grandma’s middle name, and also the mn of several cousins and the first name of my maternal aunt so a bit overused and boring in my family. I like [name]Gail[/name] also but I would prefer a middle name that a girl could go by if she wanted and [name]Gail[/name] wouldn’t work for that these days ( I wish it would, I really like the sound of [name]Gail[/name]). [name]Gloria[/name] is another honor name but [name]Antonia[/name] [name]Gloria[/name] sounds ancient in a strange way, I like it but not sure if I’d use it [name]IRL[/name].
