[name_f]Sansa[/name_f] I pronounce Suhn-sa like Japanise title san, if I remember correctly, not American however, Americans would pronounce every a like eh if they can.
My favorite is [name_f]Sansa[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. I’m American, and I pronounce it “San-suh.”
I pronounce it “Saun-sa” like most characters on Game of Thrones do. I think Petyr Baelish and maybe a few other characters pronounce it “[name_f]Sen[/name_f]-sa” though? The pronunciations are kind of close.
Out of the those options I think [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is best.
I say it SAN-suh, rhyming with can.
I pronounce it straightforward: San-sah/suh
I like [name_f]Sansa[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Sansa[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. [name_f]Sansa[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is a bit hissy. [name_u]Love[/name_u] to see this name being considered!
I’m from upstate NY & pronounce Sansa as “San-suh,” although my pronunciation of the short a is unusual for this area…most natives would say “Sann,” as the name Ann w/an S in front of it. The Rochester-area pronunciation of the short a is very nasal & almost two syllables…think almost “fee-AM-ly” for “family.”
As far as middle names, I love Josephine w/Sansa.
Trivia note: While most people won’t remember at this point, back in the '60s a type of pants were popular that were called Sansabelt. Check out the video for the pronunciation of Sansa:
@bobcat108: Thank you for the commercial vid! I had no idea about that brand, and it’s interesting to hear how they pronounce [name_f]Sansa[/name_f].
@wandsworth: Thank you!! I love the name (all right, and the character, although I think most do not) and I think it’s uncommon without being too weird.
Thanks for the feedback, Berries!
