Which name as a sister to Clementine

We had our daughter, Clementine Mariana, in January. We are going to start trying for our next baby in August. It took us five years to get Clementine, so we are starting sooner rather than later. I prefer to have the name picked out ahead of time if possible, so I want to avoid waiting to see the baby. My personal experience was that seeing the baby after she was born would not have helped me choose between the two.

Clementine was my husband’s pick, so he said he wants me to pick out this name! I have free reign. He said he trusts my tastes and will love whatever I choose!

The two names I am stuck on are Daphne and Gwendolyn.

Daphne has been an old love. It was my first choice for Clementine. I’ve had this name at the top of my list since I was a teenager.

Gwendolyn is another name that I have loved for years. I’ve come around to Gwen as a nickname (though we call Clementine by her full name and plan on doing so with a Gwendolyn).

Our max amount of kids we want is three, so other girl names on our list: Marlowe, Beatrice, and Theodora. I could see Clementine, Daphne, and Marlowe as sisters or I could see Clementine, Gwendolyn, and Beatrice/Theodora.

Our boy name is Harrison Thomas.

Which name would you pick? Or! Which name would you suggest?

Middle name will likely be James. I know James is super trendy for girls right now, but it’s my dad’s name who is currently dying of cancer and we want to honor him.

Thank you in advance!

I think [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] fits perfectly in your sibset!

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]

[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is my favorite with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] from your list. I also love [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. They both have a warm sunny vibe. :sunglasses:

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] is a great name and pairs well with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Mariana[/name_f]. I suggest the name [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] if [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] falls out of favor.

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] for sure! Seems to have the most meaning to you and is a wonderful combo.

[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] seem too similar to me. [name_m]Long[/name_m] names with similar sounds Clem/Gwen. They fit together but at the same time, they don’t.

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] just work. They match without being too matchy. They’re sweet and look happy together.

[name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_m]Harrison[/name_m], and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] are pretty damn great as a sibset.
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] are great for all girls too.

[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] for this girl and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] for the third if ever she comes.

I think [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] is perfect! It fits really well with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f].

I also really love [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] - if your heart isn’t set on [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] or [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], you could consider using it.

(And btw, [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is an awesome name too )

Clementine is such a beautiful name, it’s one of my favourites! I can’t say I’m personally a fan of Daphne or Gwendolyn but they do go nicely with Clementine, and I adore Marlowe (although I prefer it on a boy). Theodora is also lovely, as is Beatrice, although I prefer Beatrix. The x brings it a touch of spunk that Beatrice lacks to me.

Some other names I think go beautifully with Clementine are:

Matilda
June
Arabella
Olive
Pearl
Margot
Thea
Amelie
Mabel
Freya
Marigold
Astrid
Eleanor
Della
Florence
Ada
Eloise
Isobel
Paloma
Aurora
Primrose
Juno
Allegra
Luella
Ophelia
Rosalind
Saskia
Willa
Audrey
Flora
Tallulah
Alba
Phoebe
Lyra
Stella
Araminta
Edie
Violet
Delilah
Giselle
Adele
Wilhelmina
Mirabel
Iris
Dahlia

Between Daphne and Gwendolyn, I think the latter suits Clementine best, just in terms of style, length and, even though you intend to use their full names, in built first syllable nicknames. Gwendolyn James sounds especially striking and elegant!

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is perfect with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]!

[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] are both beautiful.

I do not like [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]. A) [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is male to me and B) it has nothing to do with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. It is also trendy and will not wear well in my opinion.

[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] or [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] are also nice choices.

[name_f]My[/name_f] advice is to flip a coin between [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and when it is in the air you will likely be hoping slightly for one result over the other.

I much prefer [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] over [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], though I do like [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] - and other [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] names. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] go beautifully with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f].

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] Beatrice!!

I love [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]

ideas:

[name_u]Florence[/name_u]
[name_u]Mallory[/name_u]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Paige[/name_f]

Daphne!! If you were going to call them by NNs you could have a little [name_u]Clem[/name_u] & Daph.

[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Mariana[/name_f] is sooo precious. [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] are at the top of my list right now they just sound so lovely some others you might like are:
[name_f]Verity[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleonora[/name_f]
Cecilia/Cecily
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Magdalen[/name_f]
[name_f]Constance[/name_f]

[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] feels very feminine to me. I think feel if it declines in popularity that might actually be good. It goes very well with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and it’s not nearly popular enough to sound dated over the years.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite name from your list is [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] - it’s also in my top 10 for girls. However, [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] is too unisex even for me, so I think I prefer [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] for you.

You’re right, [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] would make great sisters so maybe you’ll get to use it in the future!

I think [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] are both beautiful. While [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] “matches” more in length, I think [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] really sparkles with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. I imagine two sisters sharing secrets and giggling together when I hear [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f].
