Hello all! I am due [name]August[/name] 2nd with my first child. It’s a little girl! My husband and I have put together this list of our favorite names:
[name]Finley[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Carleigh[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name]
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Faith[/name]
Makiya [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Logan[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
Please give me your HONEST opinions. I’d also love to hear any suggestions you have. Thank you!
[name]Finley[/name] [name]Marie[/name] - [name]Finley[/name]'s a boys name.
[name]Carleigh[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name] - [name]Carly[/name] [name]Bronwen[/name] looks nicer.
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Faith[/name] - [name]Claire[/name] would sound better with a two or more syllable middle name, or go with [name]Clara[/name] Fiath
Makiya [name]Grace[/name] - No.
[name]Logan[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - [name]Logan[/name] is a boys name.
[name]Finley[/name] [name]Marie[/name] - I do not like [name]Finley[/name] for a girl. I don’t think there is anything special or nice about the name for a little girl. (i might revise the opinion slightly if [name]Finley[/name] is a family name.)
[name]Carleigh[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name] - I do not like this spelling of [name]Carly[/name]. It don’t think it adds anything to spunky first name. I do like [name]Carly[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name]. [name]Bronwen[/name] [name]Carly[/name] would be even better.
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Faith[/name] - my favorite of your choices, it is simple, feminine, and elegant
Makiya [name]Grace[/name] - Makiya looks like a made up name to me. With all the M and K names out there, I don’t think this stands out
[name]Logan[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - although [name]Rose[/name] softens it a big, [name]Logan[/name] strikes me as very masculine. I don’t care for it with a girl.
[name]Finley[/name] [name]Marie[/name] - not a fan at all. [name]Finley[/name] is of the trendy, last-name-as-girl’s-first-name stripe that I can’t stand, and [name]Marie[/name] is a filler middle.
[name]Carleigh[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name] - What’s wrong with [name]Carly[/name]? The trendy spelling makes an otherwise unremarkable name slightly cringe-inducing. I really like [name]Bronwyn[/name]. Why not use that as a first?
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Faith[/name] - [name]Claire[/name] is great! [name]Faith[/name] is also nice, but way too similar in sound. [name]Claire[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name] would be better.
Makiya [name]Grace[/name] - Makiya sounds made-up and she’ll have to spell it/explain the pronunciation her whole life, [name]Grace[/name] is a filler.
[name]Logan[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - [name]Logan[/name] is trendy on a boy, and almost obnoxious on a girl. [name]Rose[/name] is also a filler middle, but still very pretty. Why not use it as a first?
Sorry if this sounds rude. You did say brutally honest!
Of your choices the only one I really like is [name]Claire[/name] [name]Faith[/name] (and I think [name]Claire[/name] would go with almost any of the middles you have listed if you wanted to change them around). I love the name [name]Finley[/name], but not at all for a girl. [name]Carleigh[/name] is fine, but only spelt [name]Carly[/name]. I do not like Makiya or [name]Logan[/name].
If this is your first child, I would advise you to really think about which path you want to walk down. What parents choose for their firstborn often determines what they pick for their future children. Think about what style appeals to you the most (judging by your list, you mostly like boys/unisex names for girls). Are you comfortable giving all of your daughters this type of name? What would you give your son if you have girls names [name]Finley[/name] and [name]Logan[/name]? My favourite first name is [name]Claire[/name]. I like it for its simplicity. [name]Claire[/name] is also more versatile because it can “fit” with many name styles. [name]Claire[/name] does need a longer mn. Perhaps you should use the boyish names in the middle spot.
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name] - my fave combo
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Finley[/name]
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Logan[/name]
You asked the wrong group of people here, I think NEs seem to generally share one style: [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Vivian[/name], [name]Linnea[/name], et al tend to get rave reviews. Anything -eigh, creatively spelled (or ‘kre8tivveleigh’ according to some), or new and trendy are hated. Maybe ask some family about this one.
FWIW I like [name]Carleigh[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name]
Totally Honest: only one I would actually consider using is [name]Claire[/name]. [name]Finley[/name] and [name]Logan[/name] are boys names. Makiya and [name]Carleigh[/name] have made up/creative spellings (makes them seem low class). [name]Carly[/name] is OK though. I also like all of your middle name choices - it doesn’t bother me that most of them are “filler names.”
[name]Finley[/name] [name]Marie[/name]…I actually disagree and think [name]Finley[/name] is lovely for a girl. Yes, it would be even more special if it was a family name. I am not too keen on [name]Marie[/name] never have been. It was overused at one point . I am not sure it is due for a comeback.
[name]Carleigh[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name]…I love [name]Bronwyn[/name] but am not too fond of [name]Carleigh[/name]. [name]Finley[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name] sounds sweet.
[name]Claire[/name] faith… is short and sweet but I do not prefer the same syllables together it has a better flow when they are different syllables in a name. I think [name]Clarissa[/name]/[name]Carissa[/name] [name]Faith[/name] has a better flow.
Mikiya [name]Grace[/name]…I don’t like Makiya although [name]Grace[/name] is a classic, sophisticated choice with some of your other names.
[name]Logan[/name] [name]Rose[/name]…[name]Logan[/name] sounds like a manly mans name to me:) [name]Rose[/name] is a sweet middle.
Firstly…congrats on having your first baby girl to be!
As for the names…
*[name]Finley[/name] and [name]Logan[/name] are way too masculine looking feeling for a girl (not the best unisex name choices) even if a more feminine middle name is added. It doesn’t look or sound right.
*The spelling of [name]Carleigh[/name] looks better like [name]Carly[/name] and with your name combo here… I’d say [name]Carly[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name] or even [name]Bronwyn[/name] [name]Carly[/name] works.
*[name]Claire[/name] [name]Faith[/name] is the most girly/feminine combo of your choices which is nice though putting these two names together makes the name sound too abrupt. Perhaps choose a longer middle or first name to pair with either of these names. Something like [name]Claire[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name]/[name]Bronwyn[/name] [name]Claire[/name] or [name]Carly[/name] [name]Faith[/name].
*Makiya name looks and sounds more ‘made up’ and would likely be the more difficult of the name choices to spell/say.

[name]Finley[/name] [name]Marie[/name] - not really special
[name]Carleigh[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name] - I agree with others that [name]Carly[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name] looks nicer. I like this one spelled this way
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Faith[/name] - [name]Clara[/name] [name]Faith[/name] to break up syllables, or [name]Claire[/name] + 2-3 syllable name. like the suggestion of [name]Claire[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name]
Makiya [name]Grace[/name] - I don’t know this name. There’s [name]Makayla[/name], [name]Malika[/name]…but I’ve never heard of Makiya. I don’t dislike it, it just looks misspelled to me, like it’s missing a letter, and i’m not 100% sure on how to say it (is it mah-KEE-ya?). My opinion is there are a lot of unique names out there with cool meanings, that might go over better than a made up one. But if it’s not made up and has some significance to you, go for it.
[name]Logan[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - I actually think this combo is really pretty, even though I consider [name]Logan[/name] a boy’s name. If you choose to go with a unisex/boy name, this one gets my vote over [name]Finley[/name] [name]Marie[/name].
[name]Finley[/name] [name]Marie[/name] - I like [name]Finley[/name] for a girl if you avoid the nickname [name]Fin/name, which screams all boy to me. I like that you’ve paired it with a feminine classic.
[name]Carleigh[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name] - [name]Bronwyn[/name] is my favorite name from your list (along with [name]Claire[/name]). I like [name]Carleigh[/name] well enough but have some personal associations that would prevent me from ever using it. I do prefer a more traditional spelling of the name however.
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Faith[/name] - I adore the name [name]Claire[/name]. It’s so simple and sweet. I prefer when it is offset by something cool and spunky instead of something traditional and virtuous, but again that is personal preference!
Makiya [name]Grace[/name] - This is the only name on your list that I genuinely don’t like. There are too many children being named Mak------. It’s very trendy and reminds me of the -aden trend - where every chlid in the class ends up with a similar, but slightly different, name.
[name]Logan[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - I personally prefer [name]Logan[/name] for a boy, however one of my best girlfriends is named [name]Logan[/name] and she pulls it off nicely. Again, I like that you’ve paired it with a feminine classic.
I’m with the previous posted who said that [name]Claire[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name] is a winner! [name]Love[/name] it.
[name]Finley[/name] [name]Marie[/name]: very trendy vibe… I wouldn’t be surprised to run into another [name]Finley[/name] [name]Marie[/name] at school.
[name]Carleigh[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name]: prefer [name]Carly[/name] or [name]Charlie[/name]. This name looks confusing
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Faith[/name]: Classy and sweet. This is my favorite of your names. Many berries will say that two one syllable names clash, but I like it.
Makiya [name]Grace[/name]: Makiya looks made up to me. Is it?
[name]Logan[/name] [name]Rose[/name]: cute combo, but I’d prefer [name]Logan[/name] on a boy even though I have known both boy and girl Logans
Would you consider [name]Claire[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name] or [name]Bronwyn[/name] [name]Claire[/name]*? They’re the 2 best individual names on your list.
I think [name]Claire[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name] (or [name]Bronwyn[/name] [name]Claire[/name]) would be a lovely combination. Classy, feminine, lovely and strong.
And I personally believe it’s classier to use “traditional” spellings of names - ie [name]Carly[/name] instead of [name]Carleigh[/name] (unless you have your personal reasons for changing spellings, of course).
[name]Finley[/name] [name]Marie[/name] - I like them together, when she’s only referred to as [name]Finley[/name], the sound is decidedly masculine. I’d choose another “ley” name that’s obviously female, like maybe [name]Hadley[/name].
[name]Carleigh[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name] - I dislike the spelling of [name]Carleigh[/name], but love the name [name]Bronwyn[/name]/Brownwen. [name]How[/name] about [name]Clary[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name]? A little spunkier than [name]Carly[/name], but with a more substantial and appealing background?
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Faith[/name] - Bland. I also dislike monosyllabic names (one syllable, one syllable). [name]Claret[/name] [name]Faith[/name] sounds better.
Makiya [name]Grace[/name] - sounds made-up, plus M/K names are so overdone ([name]Mikayla[/name], [name]Mackenzie[/name], etc.)
[name]Logan[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - [name]Logan[/name] sounds very much like a boys’ name to me.
My favorite of yours (edited) would be [name]Clary[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name].
Other names I’d suggest for you would be [name]Emerson[/name], [name]Quinn[/name], [name]Cameron[/name], [name]Avery[/name], [name]Sydney[/name], [name]Casey[/name], and [name]Reagan[/name].
[name]Finley[/name] [name]Marie[/name] - [name]Finley[/name] is all boy to me. [name]How[/name] about [name]Marley[/name]?!
[name]Carleigh[/name] [name]Bronwyn[/name] - What about [name]Carly[/name]?
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Faith[/name] - [name]Love[/name]! My fav!!
Makiya [name]Grace[/name] - I don’t love. Not bad though.
[name]Logan[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - [name]Logan[/name] is for boys too. I do like it better than [name]Finley[/name] though. I like that you have a very girly middle name for her.
