Please help! I have a son, [name]Alexander[/name], who we named so easily and now, with a girl, we are totally stuck! Our last name is long (three syllables) and a mouthful. I’m looking for a classy, strong, beautiful name that doesn’t end in an “e” sounding nickname, since our last name ends in “ski” - it just makes it too rhyme-y. So, please help. Here are some I like - open to suggestions!
Thanks, I love [name]Vivienne[/name] too. [name]Don[/name]'t think [name]Vivi[/name] will work as a nickname, but [name]Viv[/name] might. Please keep the ideas coming! Thanks!
I think [name]Ava[/name] would pair well with [name]Alexander[/name].
From your list maybe
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Kathryn[/name]
Or maybe these
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Angharad[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Gisele[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Carys[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Aurelia[/name]
[name]Do[/name] you think it is bad to have a 3 syllable first and last name though? I’ve heard the syllables of the different names shouldn’t match. Thanks for all of these great suggestions. Keep 'em coming!
I almost used [name]Lana[/name] but my husband thought it sounded incomplete, like the end of a name. We went with [name]Leonie[/name] which is sort of close. I love chic/short L names.
[name]Leda[/name]
[name]Lita[/name]
[name]Lina[/name]
[name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Linnea[/name]
[name]Leigh[/name]
[name]Lavinia[/name]
[name]Lilac[/name]
I love [name]Lana[/name] though. [name]Lana[/name] [name]Turner[/name] & [name]Lana[/name] del [name]Ray[/name] are really chic references but neither is so popular that it dominates the name’s image.
I forgot to put [name]Keira[/name] on the list as well. Another contender… [name]How[/name] do you feel about just naming a girl [name]Kate[/name]? Does it seem incomplete? I wouldn’t want her be called [name]Katie[/name].
I love [name]Hannah[/name] with [name]Alexander[/name]! I think it’s a perfect pairing. It could just be subconscious for me, though, as there’s a novelist out there named [name]Hannah[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]. I still think [name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Hannah[/name] would be fabulous, though. I also like [name]Ella[/name], [name]Kaia[/name], and [name]Emma[/name], although I don’t like any of them with [name]Alexander[/name] quite like I love [name]Hannah[/name] with it.
Have you considered [name]Grace[/name]? I think [name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Grace[/name] is perfect, and I like the simple, sweet, classic [name]Grace[/name] with a more complicated -ski name.
I have a friend named [name]Kate[/name]. It doesn’t seem odd to me although she has had to explain to people a lot that her name really is ‘just [name]Kate[/name]’ (as when filling out paperwork, etc). Since your son is [name]Alexander[/name], it doesn’t seem like [name]Katherine[/name] is too long to use as the proper name, with your plan to call her [name]Kate[/name].
I love [name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Vivienne[/name] together. Also love [name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Kate[/name], as well as [name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Grace[/name]!
I don’t know why but I’m with most men on [name]Lana[/name]. It sound sort of harsh and incomplete to me. That and it makes me think of mowing the lawn.
[name]Alexander[/name] and any of those sound good together.
I would cross of [name]Brooke[/name] and [name]Hannah[/name] though - they seem a bit dated.
Does [name]Alexander[/name] have a nickname? If he does, then I suggest using a longer name for your daughter too. [name]Kathryn[/name] or [name]Katelyn[/name] - nn [name]Kate[/name].
[name]Lana[/name] has an old Hollywood feel. I’m surprised the men in your life don’t like it. It sounds sexy. You could call her [name]Alanna/name, although that seems a bit matchy - both start with [name]Al[/name]. [name]Ella[/name] or [name]Elle[/name] seem a bit matchy too…
Some suggestions: [name]Marlena[/name], [name]Helena[/name], [name]Lorena[/name], [name]Leona[/name], [name]Layla[/name], [name]Cassandra[/name], [name]Calista[/name], [name]Camilla[/name], [name]Cecelia[/name]
I love [name]Kate[/name]. I think [name]Kate[/name] is the perfect fit for classy, strong and beautiful. And I agree [name]Kate[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name] is a gorgeous combination.
It might be a bit too different for you, but I just came across [name]Solana[/name]. That would be a pretty full name for nn [name]Lana[/name]. The meaning is lovely too!
[name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Ava[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Lana[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Vivienne[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Kate[/name]
