For me, [name]Elsa[/name] and [name]Theodora[/name] were both names I considered. [name]Willa[/name] and [name]Xanthe[/name] would not have made any of my lists. So I’d say the two “winners” are [name]Elsa[/name] and [name]Theodora[/name] (and I really like [name]Elsa[/name])
However, looking at your “Considering for Boy” list in your signature, I can imagine that you would consider the other names too.
Tough choice. I like them all! Three of them are on my list should I have a girl. In order, I love:
Theodora :beautiful, strong - love nickname options. Love it.
Willa : have always loved this. It’s a strong, but almost dreamy name. It has weeping willow connotations for me, a tree I love.
Elsa : very sweet name. I see this on a shy but spunky little girl. The name translates across generations and would age well.
Xanthe : sweet, bright and happy name.
I love [name]Willa[/name]! And I like [name]Theodora[/name], too. [name]Dora[/name] is such a cute nickname. I don’t care for [name]Elsa[/name], and I really cannot stand [name]Xanthe[/name].
I absolutely love [name]Elsa[/name]. It’s a clear winner, and I would go with [name]Theodora[/name] as a second choice (sounds more dramatic over [name]Elsa[/name]'s strong, spunky charm). I can see your boys list in your tag, and I have to put my vote in for [name]Eamon[/name]…you have exceptional taste!
[name]Elsa[/name].
[name]Willa[/name] and [name]Theodora[/name] look too much like “boys names gone girl”, which they kinda are, but it’s too blatant imo. [name]Xanthe[/name] looks like a medication.
[name]Theodora[/name] and [name]Elsa[/name]. I really adore [name]Thea[/name] as the nn (and would likely choose it alone for myself), but [name]Elsa[/name] is also a lovely choice.
I love [name]Willa[/name] and [name]Xanthe[/name]. Be hard to choose between those two. Maybe [name]Xanthe[/name], which I wish I could use. Impression-wise, [name]Willa[/name] is more sweet, [name]Xanthe[/name] is a little bit antique-eccentric, which I like, but isn’t as sweet as [name]Willa[/name] which feels slightly less Victorian parlour and slightly more pioneer girl.
I pretty much love them all, but [name]Willa[/name] and [name]Xanthe[/name] are my two favorites from your list. I love the idea of [name]Xanthe[/name] nn [name]Annie[/name].
1 [name]Theodora[/name] - elegant and majestic with two great nn choices.
2 [name]Elsa[/name] - Short and sweet with a European flair
3 [name]Willa[/name] - Vintage charm with a literary connection
4 [name]Xanthe[/name] - Pretty but sounds surprisingly contemporary
1 [name]Elsa[/name]- simple, sweet, but womanly. It’s one of those names that sits well on any age
2 [name]Willa[/name]- simple, but a bit girlish. Redeemed by the pioneer (and early female university graduate!) Cather.
3 [name]Theadora[/name]- [name]Dorothy[/name] and [name]Dorothea[/name] sit a little better, I think. [name]Theadora[/name] is a ‘look at me!’ name (which can be good, just worth considering!).
4 [name]Xanthe[/name]- I like this one as a middle name. As a first, it’s just a bit too crumbling-manor-house eccentric (and with that X it’s also a ‘look at me!’ name).
I like [name]Elsa[/name] [name]Dorothea[/name] and [name]Willa[/name] [name]Xanthe[/name], if you’re open to unsolicited opinions
I love [name]Willa[/name]! [name]Elsa[/name] is also a lovely choice. [name]Theodora[/name] sounds nice, but it’s just too much name for me and [name]Xanthe[/name] is too unusual for my taste. I think you can’t go wrong with the first two!
