Which name?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berries! So this is my daughter, I tried to not reveal her face too much, but it revolves around my question.
(I deleted the image) :slight_smile:

I’m going to make this short, my husband and I are caught upon whether we made the wrong choice for a first middle name. It’s between [name_f]Greta[/name_f] and [name_f]Walburga[/name_f], family names on my husband’s side. I’m Russian and my husband is Israeli, for a bit of background.
The hesitation for [name_f]Walburga[/name_f], is that my daughter’s second middle name is [name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f], after the star. If you read the [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] books, you know what I mean. I want her to be able to choose any one of her names if she doesn’t like her first name. Is [name_f]Greta[/name_f] a better choice or [name_f]Walburga[/name_f]?

Thanks xxx

Honestly I’ve read all the HP books at least twice, some of them 4 times, and I still didn’t make the connection. I like [name_f]Greta[/name_f] more as a name and think it’s more usable but if [name_f]Walburga[/name_f] is more important to you go for it.

I’d probably go with [name_f]Greta[/name_f]- it feels like a more wearable name if she wanted to use it

Bellatrix and [name_f]Walburga[/name_f] were both from the [name_m]Black[/name_m] family and not the best character association. If you didn’t get it, that’s good, I think. Thank you for your opinion! xx

I prefer the name [name_f]Greta[/name_f]. What does your daughter prefer?

I agree with this. She looks old enough to have her own input on her name. What is her current first middle and what has prompted this idea around changing it?

@Estrela @katinka
She prefers different ones different days, sometimes [name_f]Greta[/name_f], sometimes [name_f]Walburga[/name_f]. So, I don’t know what she actually likes. We decided on Ninel, a Russian name. So (first name) Ninel [name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f]…we adored it. But, in my husband’s religion, he hasn’t fulfilled his duties unless his children have a familial name. Our son does, but our daughter doesn’t. This faced backlash in his family and we doubted our decision. [name_m]Long[/name_m] story short, we have finally decided to change it. I am still in doubt of what is best; [name_f]Walburga[/name_f] has been in his family ever since their roots in [name_m]Germany[/name_m] and [name_f]Greta[/name_f] is more recent, but I think it is more wearable. That’s the story, I don’t know what to do.

Aw, thank you for your input! I’m leaning in the [name_f]Greta[/name_f] direction!

Maybe you could try out both with her for a time and see which she feels fits her better? I definitely think at her age she should at least feel like she has some valuable input into the process (she’s very sweet, by the way :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:)

Personally, I prefer [name_f]Greta[/name_f] – both in general, and in this combo. Would you switch out Ninel? That’s a name with an interesting backstory!

Definitely agree with you, I want here to have a say! Also, thank you, she’s my little baby! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I love Ninel, I’m not even Zionist either…here comes the second guesses!
It definitely is interesting - a backwards of [name_m]Lenin[/name_m], meaning “from the river [name_f]Lena[/name_f]”, a large river in [name_f]Russia[/name_f]. I’m leaning towards [name_f]Greta[/name_f]…my husband wants [name_f]Walburga[/name_f] though.

Greta gets my vote. It’s elegant yet spunky, familiar and has a lovely meaning, I also think it flows best with [name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f].
