I love your girls’ names!
With Azula and [name_f]Indira[/name_f], my favourites are [name_f]Eowyn[/name_f], [name_f]Olivine[/name_f], [name_f]Iolanthe[/name_f] & [name_f]Evanthe[/name_f], [name_u]Artemis[/name_u], and [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f]. All beautiful, strong, mythical and wonderful names.
Pheadra, [name_f]Avani[/name_f] & [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] for me. [name_f]Eowyn[/name_f] is also lovely but seems to be from a very different part of the world that your other girls names, so while it’s different, it’s a different kind of different than the names of your daughters.
Thanks to everyone that has voted or commented before! I am surprised to see which names are leading, and pleased because they happen to be some of my faves!
Global mythology fascinates me, especially when different cultures have similar stories or characters with completely different names and origins. So names that have mythological significance appeal to me (particularly when they are connected to nature) which is probably why I have so many Greek names on my list.
I was hoping for my kids’ names to kind of nod to that, a multicultural mythological kind of appeal, with nature middle names and honour names peppered in wherever it feels right since that is what my guy is into.
Since Azula & [name_f]Indira[/name_f] are both “warm sounding” to me since they originate from [name_f]India[/name_f] & South [name_u]America[/name_u], I was really considering using something “cool or lush sounding” maybe a name from the [name_u]North[/name_u]. Freyja, [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] / [name_f]Eowyn[/name_f] / [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] / Rowenna / [name_f]Ravenna[/name_f] / [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] / some of the -anthe names all give me that cool green feeling.
Some of the names like [name_f]Esperanza[/name_f] / [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] / [name_f]Avani[/name_f] really appeal to me, but are warmer sounding for sure and might REALLY set us in stone stylistically. I think [name_f]Athena[/name_f], [name_u]Artemis[/name_u], [name_f]Alanis[/name_f], [name_f]Olivine[/name_f] & [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] walk a pleasant “in between” kind of line that probably fits better beside our girls but I am worried might not take us far enough away from them to really bring the set the overall vibe I am hoping for. Although pair them with the right middle name & they could be perfect.
Can I just say how surprised I am to see Freyja/[name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] & [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]/[name_f]Eowyn[/name_f] so far ahead of the pack? I thought I would get more votes AGAINST Freyja because of the ends-in-a thing but it is for sure my favourite on the whole list.
Can’t decide of the two of them if [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] or [name_f]Eowyn[/name_f] is better. What do you think?
While they are lovely options, I have noticed a general trend to the first two options generally having the most votes. Maybe this is because posters put their favourites first, maybe it is psychological. [name_m]Just[/name_m] saying.
That being said, I voted for [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] b/c it’s just gorgeous. But I agree that [name_f]Esperanza[/name_f] might fit ‘tone-wise’ with the sibset better.
Also, have you considered Avanti along with [name_f]Avani[/name_f]? My personal favourite variation on the name.
None of these names are really my style, personally, BUT I love [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] for you. I like the idea of all the girls having names that start with a vowel, but no one sharing an initial. [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] is a very romantic, melodic but still wearable name and I think it flows well with your daughters’ names.
I just genuinely love the name [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]–it’s in my signature! That’s why I voted for it! [name_f]Eowyn[/name_f] is beautiful but I’ve only ever heard it in [name_m]Lord[/name_m] of the Rings, so not sure you want a name from modern mythology? Or maybe it is found elsewhere, too!
I liked some of the names in your forth option (like [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] and [name_f]Evanthe[/name_f]) but not all, that’s why I didn’t go for that one.
