Which Names Go Best? (POLL)

After many difficulties, we are beyond thrilled to be completing our family with baby number four! :black_heart: I adore uncommon word names that give a magical and enchanting feel and that have a vivid mental image. My earthside kids’ name are Noble, Rune, and Frost, and I’m curious which of the names on my list you find the most cohesive to complete my sibset with the last baby!

  • Aether :crystal_ball:
  • Day :sun_behind_small_cloud:
  • Esper :sparkles:
  • Light :sunny:
  • Pond :ocean:
  • Sky :cloud:

And which name/s do you prefer overall?

  • Aether :crystal_ball:
  • Day :sun_behind_small_cloud:
  • Esper :sparkles:
  • Light :sunny:
  • Pond :ocean:
  • Sky :cloud:

Maybe strange, but if baby number four is given a five letter name, would it be odd that Rune would be the only one without five letters?

  • Yes, I would notice
  • A little bit, but I wouldn’t let it stop me
  • Not weird at all

And finally, we’re a big nickname family. Noble and Rune go by nicknames 99.9% of the time (Nobie and Runey), and Frost goes by an assortment of nicknames about 75% of the time (Oz, Ozzie, Frosty). I can’t think of a nickname for Day, Light, or Sky currently (though of course I know nicknames could still happen naturally). Would it be odd for 3/4 of the kids to have nicknames but not the last baby?

Thank you so much, I really appreciate the feedback from everyone!

Your kids have lovely names!!

I just wanted to add that off the top of my head (and you’ve probably already though of this), [name_u]Day[/name_u] could be nicknamed something that sounds like [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]? I am not normally a [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] fan but I think that’s pretty cute :relaxed:

Your children have such perfect names. I’m sure you’ll come up with a nickname for [name_u]Day[/name_u], [name_u]Light[/name_u] or [name_u]Sky[/name_u]. I find these things usually come up as you go along.

Congratulations on your fourth child.

I think the theme of your post is cohesion and consistency. It seems to be something you enjoy with your naming but I don’t think you need consistent patterns in letters, syllables, nicknames and so on for a sibling set to be cohesive. The most recognisable feature of your childrens’ names is their style. So if I were to prioritise any one feature it would be style and let the rest fall where they may.

If you are open to nickname ideas, may I suggest: [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Lilo[/name_f] and [name_m]Lio[/name_m] with a long ‘i’ vowel sound for [name_u]Light[/name_u]. [name_f]Eska[/name_f], [name_u]Esker[/name_u], [name_m]Esko[/name_m] and [name_m]Skip[/name_m] for [name_u]Sky[/name_u]. [name_u]Daly[/name_u] and [name_f]Didi[/name_f] for [name_u]Day[/name_u].

[name_u]Day[/name_u] could be [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Dede[/name_f], [name_m]Daley[/name_m]. [name_u]Sky[/name_u] could be [name_m]Ky[/name_m], [name_f]Skylie[/name_f], [name_f]Skya[/name_f]. [name_u]Light[/name_u] could be [name_f]Lila[/name_f]

I love your kids’ names so so much!! What a beautiful set :two_hearts: I think the nickname Sunny might work for any one of the names you’re having trouble finding a nickname for!

Thank you so much, everyone, for your suggestions and ideas. You all are both kind and helpful!

Nicknames/name length has never been a concern before, but I got it in my head recently that it might be strange since the new baby could potentially be the odd person out, and I wasn’t sure how I felt about that. I think I’ll focus less on making sure it perfectly matches versus just finding the perfectly loved name.

That said, your nickname suggestions were so fun to read, and I’ve written all of them down to mull over. I love so many of the suggestions! Thank you, Berries! :sparkles:
