Which Names Sound Best with my Last Name?

Hey fellow Berries!

I’m currently 8 weeks along with my first and we just saw the strong heartbeat of the little one yesterday at the doctor, so obviously I’m now in full-blown name-mode! One of my obstacles is that almost all the girl names that I love end with the letter “a”, and so does my last name so sometimes they sound awkward together.

Anyways, I would just love to hear some feedback on which names you think sound and look the best with our last name/which ones you like most! Thanks in advance for your friendly words!

(Oh and just so you have a visual, our little one will most likely be bright blonde with green or blue eyes!)

Girl:
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] Soma
[name_f]Alexa[/name_f] Soma
[name_f]Aria[/name_f] Soma
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] Soma
[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] Soma
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f] Soma
[name_f]Vera[/name_f] Soma

Boy:
[name_u]Logan[/name_u] Soma
[name_m]Ethan[/name_m] Soma
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] Soma
[name_m]Nolan[/name_m] Soma
[name_m]Liam[/name_m] Soma
[name_u]Noah[/name_u] Soma (rhymes too much, though right?)

Thanks for your opinions!

for your girls i like [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Elena[/name_f] best! I think with your last name, having a 3 syllable first name would balance out best in my opinion!

I really like all your boys names, except i do agree [name_u]Noah[/name_u] Soma is a bit rhymey. My favorite is [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] with your last name

I love [name_f]Thea[/name_f], but it sounds a bit off with your last name. It would be better if you’d use [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] or something else with the nickname [name_f]Thea[/name_f].
[name_f]Aria[/name_f] and [name_f]Alexa[/name_f] are nice too.

For a boy I like [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u], but [name_u]Noah[/name_u] Soma is a bit too rhymy, I’m afraid. [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] is just fine.

You have a great list to choose from.
For girls, I like [name_f]Thea[/name_f] (or [name_f]Leah[/name_f]?) and [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] best.
For boys I like [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] & [name_u]Logan[/name_u] best. And I agree, [name_u]Noah[/name_u]'s vowel sounds match Soma too closely.

[name_f]Elena[/name_f] and [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] are my favourites sound wise with Soma for girls, and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] and [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] for boys. I do think that [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] Soma is rhymey in a good, memorable way though, speaking as a fan of similar-sounding first name and surname names (if that made any sense at all)

[name_f]Vera[/name_f] and [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] Soma

[name_f]Natalie[/name_f] and any of your boys names except noah. Unfortunately it is too rhymey.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted to say that I think it’s really smart of you to post this in this way. So many people post in these forums trying to name actual children and don’t make any mention of the surname, and since most of the time people go by Firstname Lastname in real life, this should be a huge consideration - I think practically speaking it’s much more important than whatever the middle name(s) is/are.

Anyway! I do think [name_u]Noah[/name_u] Soma is too rhyme-y, and I’m debating whether [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] Soma is, too. [name_f]Alexa[/name_f] Soma doesn’t thrill me because in addition to the “a” ending, the “x” at the end of [name_f]Alexa[/name_f] gets tangled up in the “S” in Soma. Apart from those, I think that the rest of the names would work OK.

Since Soma is so brief, I’d try to avoid repeating any of its sounds, especially the prominent O sound. If I’m being picky and looking for the absolute best-sounding name, I’d nix any two-syllable name that ends in “a” - they’d work perfectly fine, but to me [name_f]Vera[/name_f] Soma just doesn’t sound as good as [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] Soma (which by the way really stands out to me and sounds great). Names that end in “a” but have more than two syllables sound good to me, too, like [name_f]Elena[/name_f] Soma.

You may also like [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] Soma, [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] Soma, [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] Soma (with [name_f]Tea[/name_f] as a nickname maybe - similar to [name_f]Thea[/name_f] but the full name would flow better), [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] Soma, [name_f]Verena[/name_f] Soma (nickname [name_f]Vera[/name_f]),

Of your boy names, I think [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] Soma sounds best. [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] Soma popped into my head, too, and then [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_u]Brady[/name_u], [name_m]Adrian[/name_m], and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] ([name_m]Oliver[/name_m] Soma!! The O in [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] doesn’t sound like the O in Soma, so I think it works).

I think these ones work best with your ln:
[name_f]Alexa[/name_f] Soma
[name_f]Aria[/name_f] Soma
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f] Soma

[name_u]Logan[/name_u] Soma
[name_m]Ethan[/name_m] Soma
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] Soma

I like [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] best with your last name.

Of your girl choices, I prefer [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] because it is the only one that doesn’t have the same ending sound as your last name. For boys, I like [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] and [name_m]Liam[/name_m] best

Thank you all! I love the suggestions.

I love [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] Soma! So pretty!

I like the best [name_f]Thea[/name_f] or [name_f]Elena[/name_f] for girls and [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] or [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] for boys. <3

I’d go with [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] or [name_f]Elena[/name_f] for a girl, and [name_u]Logan[/name_u] or [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] for a boy.

[name_f]Natalie[/name_f] and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]

I like [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] best out of your girl names. Out of the boys I’d pick [name_m]Nolan[/name_m], [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m], or [name_m]Ethan[/name_m].

For a girl, [name_f]Aria[/name_f]. For a boy, [name_m]Nolan[/name_m]. Would prefer [name_f]Verity[/name_f] to [name_f]Vera[/name_f].
