I’d go [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] as that’s the nickname that’s most popular in the fam.
I’d use [name_f]Maddie[/name_f], since most of the family is already using it and it’s the most obvious option.
I’d go with [name_f]Maddie[/name_f], but I don’t think there’s any problem with having multiple nicknames. If you love [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] you should call her that.
I think [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] is the most natural nickname for [name_u]Madison[/name_u], however I prefer [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] it is just adorable!
One of my friends calls me [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] (bit of a stretch since it’s a combination of my first name and surname, but still) and whenever people hear me get addressed as that they think it’s the cutest thing! I’m in high school and I don’t think it’s too cutesy either.
I like the idea of calling her multiple nicknames too! My favorite after [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] is [name_u]Sunny[/name_u], so creative and pretty. [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] works too of course. I think it’d be fun and unique to have each family member or a few family members call her something different and I don’t think it’s too confusing (my dad calls me [name_f]Celia[/name_f], my mom [name_f]Lili[/name_f], my grandma [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] etc etc and I don’t find it confusing so)
[name_f]Maddie[/name_f] is my first choice, but if you want something less popular I would go with [name_u]Sonny[/name_u]
Thanks to everyone who voted or provided input! I’m actually surprised to see so many votes for [name_f]Maddie[/name_f], only because it’s the most common…
[name_f]Maddie[/name_f] would be the most obvious, but that is very, very popular. [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] has never been a favorite of mine, but I think it is adorable in this case still, my vote would be [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] (or [name_u]Sonny[/name_u]). It is very unexpected and super sweet!
I don’t know that you’ll be able to force just one nickname, though. I think it’s very sweet how each member of the family has a little pet name for her and don’t think it will be damaging or anything still, if getting on the same page is important to you, I hope you are able to achieve that!
I voted for [name_u]Sunny[/name_u], it’s just so lovely and unexpected! [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] is also really sweet. [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] is nice, and obviously the most natural nickname, but still personally I’m just drawn to one of the other two
I think [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] is probably your best option, because it seems as though the majority of the family is already using it. Also, when she’s older, because it’s such a natural nickname for [name_u]Madison[/name_u] it’ll probably stick at school etc…
I vote for [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]
I didn’t vote in the poll, because I wasn’t sure which to vote for. Personally I love how sweet and spunky and unique [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] is, and I like that’s it’s more creative/less obvious but still makes sense to get it from [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]. Getting people to call her by a nickname derived from her middle name would be a tough sell unless she exclusively goes by that and introduces herself to everyone as [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] from the outset, and [name_u]Madison[/name_u] being more like most people’s middles names- only on the birth certificate and in official contexts.
That being said, my favourite option for you is to have her go by [name_u]Madison[/name_u] and/or [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] at school and with other people, and you can still call her [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] and your daughter [name_u]Sunny[/name_u]. (Not that it really matters for an at-home nickname, but [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] looks more feminine to me- partly because [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] has the word son in it, and the [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] I know is male.)
It shouldn’t be confusing to use different/additional nicknames at home. I called my sister by various nicknames unrelated to her actual name, that only I used, and that changed over the years, throughout our entire childhood- I only started calling her by her actual name as a teenager. We’ve both only ever gone by our actual, full names at school and such, and it was never a problem. Your daughter will know you’re referring to her!
I love [name_u]Sunny[/name_u]!!! I think it’s a wonderful choice! It’s fresh and uncommon but people will still know how to spell it, etc. It’s a really sweet name- not to mention [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] is so. popular. If that doesn’t bother you or isn’t relevant, I wouldn’t worry, but it’s never fun to be one of 6 people with the same name.
