Which nicknames would you use with these names?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]

I have loved the name [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] for a long time now. You all have helped me choose the spelling [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] is still a top contender but for the past few days I have been thinking about [name_f]Catherine[/name_f].

So to choose the spelling I thought I would pick my favourite nickname for [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]/[name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. For nicknames I do prefer [name_f]Kate[/name_f] or [name_f]Katie[/name_f] over [name_f]Cate[/name_f] or [name_f]Catie[/name_f], I also like [name_f]Cat[/name_f]. So which nickname is your favourite? [name_f]Cat[/name_f], [name_f]Kate[/name_f] or [name_f]Katie[/name_f]?

So is there any other nicknames for either [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] or [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] you can think of? I prefer nicknames to start with the same letter as the first name.

Thanks.

I like [name_f]Cat[/name_f] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. What about [name_f]Katy[/name_f] or [name_u]Kit[/name_u]?

[name_f]Kate[/name_f]/[name_f]Katie[/name_f], [name_f]Cat[/name_f]…

[name_f]Katya[/name_f]/[name_f]Katja[/name_f] - technically a variant, but I think it works as a nn as well.
[name_u]Cato[/name_u]
[name_u]Kit[/name_u]
[name_f]Cathy[/name_f]
[name_u]Kay[/name_u]

From your options, [name_f]Cat[/name_f] would be my favourite. From pp’s suggestions, I like [name_f]Katja[/name_f], [name_u]Cato[/name_u] and [name_u]Kay[/name_u]. Maybe [name_f]Trina[/name_f]?

[name_f]Kitty[/name_f] is fun. [name_f]Keri[/name_f], Kerin, [name_f]Erin[/name_f], [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] . . .

My favourite for [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] is [name_f]Cate[/name_f] and for [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] it’s [name_f]Katie[/name_f]. You could also call her Cath/Kath, [name_f]Cathy[/name_f]/[name_f]Kathy[/name_f], [name_u]Kit[/name_u] or [name_f]Kitty[/name_f].

I prefer the spelling [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] over [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. However, my favorite nickname would be [name_u]Kit[/name_u].

I prefer [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] over [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. I like [name_u]Kit[/name_u] for [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Cat[/name_f] for [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Rin[/name_f]/[name_u]Ren[/name_u] could work.

Thank you everyone.

I like [name_f]Cat[/name_f] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. I also love [name_f]Kitty[/name_f]!

Recently I’ve been loving both [name_u]Kit[/name_u] and [name_f]Kitty[/name_f].

[name_f]Kate[/name_f] is my favorite.

[name_u]Kit[/name_u] for so cute! I also like [name_f]Kat[/name_f]/[name_f]Cat[/name_f].

My favourite nn for any form of [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] is [name_f]Kitty[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Cat[/name_f] (and [name_f]Kat[/name_f]) the best. I’ve met so many Katies and Kates, and I always found [name_f]Cat[/name_f]/[name_f]Kat[/name_f] to be kind of a “cooler” alternative.

It’s not traditional but I’ve always thought you could do [name_f]Cassie[/name_f], especially if it made sense with the middle name:
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] nn [name_f]Cassie[/name_f]. Other unorthodox possibilities: [name_f]Cece[/name_f] for [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] or [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] for [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_f]Isla[/name_f], or [name_u]Casey[/name_u] for [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Esther[/name_f]. Or Callie for Catherine Louisa.

I actually know a [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] who goes by [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] or [name_f]Kat[/name_f] (never any other nicknames)–it works very well and since it’s not spelled like “cat” it seems to separate it from the animal.

If I were you, I would go with [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] and then you can have [name_f]Katie[/name_f], [name_f]Kate[/name_f], and [name_f]Kat[/name_f] (if you like that.) I also love the [name_u]Kit[/name_u] suggestion!

I know a [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] that is a [name_f]Cat[/name_f], and a [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] that is a [name_u]Kit[/name_u].

I personally love [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] (I much prefer the K spelling) too much to shorten it!
