I really love [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] and [name_f]Amy[/name_f]. Classic, pretty, and not common.
I also think they’d suit lots of personalities, whereas [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] for example might be too “girly” for some
Could she even be called [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], and [name_f]Amy[/name_f] for short?
[name_f]Sybil[/name_f]: I don’t care for this name at all. It sounds like a medication to me and doesn’t look appealing.
[name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]: This is pretty, very dainty and whimsical sounding.
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]: Very pretty, this is my favorite on your list.
[name_f]Amy[/name_f]: I like [name_f]Amy[/name_f], though it is a tad boring compared to [name_f]Lila[/name_f].
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f]: This is unremarkable to me.
[name_f]Sybil[/name_f] - I really like this name, but for some reason it doesn’t seem to flow very well with Gysler to my ear.
[name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] - This is pretty!
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] - Also very pretty, but I would worry that it kind of gets lost among all the [name_f]Lily[/name_f]'s and [name_f]Layla[/name_f]'s and [name_f]Leila[/name_f]'s.
[name_f]Amy[/name_f] - I’d say this is the only one on your list that I don’t really care for. It just seems very 70’s/ 80’s to me.
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f] - Maybe my favorite. I really love this name.
Nice list, all are good, [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] or [name_f]Lila[/name_f] though I like best
[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]! I like it
My fave is [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]. My second fave is [name_f]Amy[/name_f].
Thanks for all the responses! I’m thrilled that [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] is in the lead - it’s my favorite and the one we’re leaning towards.
Interesting that you think of [name_f]Amy[/name_f] as not common! Our big worry is that it’s too common, but for people our age or a little older. It used to be the #2 name in [name_u]America[/name_u]! It’s nice that you think it sounds classic and not dated.
Yes, our main concern with [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] is that it might be a little too frilly. That’s why we chose the English spelling over the [name_m]French[/name_m] ([name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]).
Ha, [name_f]Amy[/name_f] ([name_f]Ami[/name_f]?) from [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] is creative! It seems like a bit of a stretch, though - it might make me feel indecisive to do that.
Yep, that is my concern with [name_f]Lila[/name_f] - I actually really dislike [name_f]Leila[/name_f]/[name_f]Layla[/name_f] despite that it’s derived from it. There’s something so sleek about [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and that’s what I like about it, but it would bum me out if she got mistakenly called [name_f]Layla[/name_f] on the regular. And yep, I figured some might feel that way about [name_f]Amy[/name_f].
See, [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] just makes me think of lycra while [name_f]Lila[/name_f] makes me think of lilac. The spelling ruins the name to me and also brings it closer to [name_f]Layla[/name_f], which I also really dislike. That I have such a strong negative reaction to names so similar, though, makes me feel like we shouldn’t use it - people are bound to misspell or mispronounce it. Fiancé loves it, though.
My favorite is [name_f]Amy[/name_f], followed by [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Amy[/name_f] sounds the best with your surname. So dainty and sweet, and very underused now
My favourite is [name_f]Lila[/name_f], and i voted for this before I read your post with your surname. I don’t like [name_f]Lila[/name_f] with your surname so my next choice is [name_f]Amy[/name_f]. I think this would sound really lovely, and how the whole name sounds together is really important for me.
[name_f]Amy[/name_f] is ready to come back imo, though I had to vote [name_f]Naomi[/name_f].
[name_f]Lila[/name_f], for sure! I love her.
[name_f]Amy[/name_f] is cute, but I can’t get past the dated feeling (not a bad thing, though–I love [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] and everyone finds it dated!), and while I like [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] okay, I like [name_f]Sybilla[/name_f] and [name_f]Sybella[/name_f] much more. [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] is okay, but I like [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f] and [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] even more. It’s not my favorite of the [name_f]Bella[/name_f] names, but it is lovely. And [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] I really want to like–it seems to be so well-loved, and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] is a lovely Biblical namesake, and it has a lovely meaning, but I’ve never been able to see the appeal in it at all. Funny enough, I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the Spanish (and others) form, [name_f]Noemi[/name_f], but I’ve never been able to get into [name_f]Naomi[/name_f].
Good luck!
[name_f]SIBYL[/name_f]!
Oh I love her so much. Gorgeous. I was first using her (and [name_f]Sibylla[/name_f]) on my list as a stepping stone to the nickname [name_u]Billie[/name_u] but I fell in love with her history and magic. [name_f]Sibyl[/name_f] Gysler is a bit repetitive but charmingly so, and mostly just in the letters rather than sound.
I do also love the combo [name_f]Amy[/name_f] [name_u]Arden[/name_u] in your signature. [name_f]Amy[/name_f] is lovely and underused at the moment.
I personally like [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] the most but I obviously don’t worry about names being too frilly or feminine.
I also love [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]/[name_f]Sibyl[/name_f]. My fiancé likes it and is willing to go along because he loves the meaning - he wants a strong feminine name. I prefer the [name_f]Sibyl[/name_f] spelling, too (it’s the original, and is the awesome word for the awesome women it’s derived from), but [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] seems to be so much more common, so it seemed like she’d be subjected to fewer misspellings that way. Also, Gysler isn’t our actual name, it’s just close enough to give you an idea - there’s no y in our real last name, so I think repetitiveness isn’t really an issue!
[name_f]Sybil[/name_f] is an impeccable name. [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] got an adult, cool and universal for a teen, and beautiful for a little baby daughter.
My favorite is [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] and second would be [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]. I like that they’re classic and a bit quirky. [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] is more common but I still find it lovely. One of my college friends had a [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] and it was lovely on her little girl.
