Hello everyone, already did a post like this a few days ago on the names that begin with M that I like the best & wanted to narrow down what I might use on a child seeing as the girl names that start with A S, M, L, V, and Z are generally what grab my attention and keep it. So, I guess a comment on what I should keep and what I should lose would be very beneficial for me to read and I trust all of the people on this website to have great taste.
[name_f]Anthea[/name_f] (ann-THEE-uh) - I love the exotic singing quality this name has:) I believe it’s Greek in origin and I think it sits right on the fence of being recognizable as well as easily fitting into the modern world as well as the “old fashioned” time period yet also a name that would make you (or at least me) look twice since it’s unexpected & delicate and daintily pretty which gives me southern belle vibes. The nickname if I use this name one day would be sweet Anthy.
[name_f]Arabela[/name_f] (air-a-BELL-uh) - this is honestly probably the most “mainstream” of the A names that I like right now. It’s a bit of a medieval name dating all the way back to 1135, anything before that being not a personal name and very ancient in comparison. The nickname for [name_f]Arabela[/name_f] would absolutely be light and breezy, almost carefree … [name_u]Ara[/name_u].
[name_u]Artemis[/name_u] - this is such a girl power name if there ever was one!! And I love everything there is to it from the sound, to the visuals, to the ancient Greek mythology it was born into.
[name_f]Apolline[/name_f] (app-uh-LEEN) - another nod to the world of Greek myth with this one being a female form of the sunny and attractive male name ~ [name_m]Apollo[/name_m]. I think also this is one of those names that is plenty ssatisfactory all its own with no names “for short.”
[name_f]Aline[/name_f] (uh-LEEN) - [name_f]Aline[/name_f] is so short & simple & to the point that I’m always slightly sad I don’t see the name used more often but also glad as that adds mystique to it in my opinion. The nickname I would go with is [name_f]Line[/name_f] (LEEN).
[name_f]Adelina[/name_f] (add-uh-LEE-nah) - now here is one that is a part of my Romanian side of the family tree. It’s perfect because I have a bit of a “love/hate” thing going with the similar name [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] so [name_f]Adelina[/name_f] is more of a breath of uncommon fresh air to me. A nickname I’d be inclined to use would be [name_f]Lina[/name_f].
[name_f]Annora[/name_f] (uh-NOOR-uh) - I find this name charming and unique, and like [name_f]Arabela[/name_f], also a name with a long history extending into the middle ages. I first became attracted to it due to it being an unheard of elaboration of [name_f]Nora[/name_f]. Nicknames made easy with this one too, the most obvious being [name_f]Nora[/name_f] / [name_f]Noora[/name_f] but it also gives the chance to go with [name_u]Noor[/name_u] which I personally like a lot better.
Atanasia (at-ah-NAHS-ee-uh) - a rare Romanian female given name
