I’m sorry but I don’t really like any of these.
I like [name_m]Ty[/name_m] as a nn but as a first it feels incomplete to me. And [name_u]Tyson[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] just reminds me too much of [name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_u]Tyson[/name_u].

I realize this is your first post but if you felt comfortable sharing your SO-mother’s name I’m sure we could help you come up with something that might work in ways to honor her that you like without feeling limited.
(For example: I like [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] or [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] [name_m]Wilson[/name_m] - though I understand that neither of these might work.)

Thank you both for replying. He wants to name our baby boy after his mother as he is an only child and was raised by her alone. I think it’s a great tribute but it’s really limiting us on options!

[name_f]Tyna[/name_f] [name_m]Wilson[/name_m] is her name…middle name [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]. We are so limited

What about various “[name_m]Luc[/name_m]” names such as [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]? I like that a lot more than [name_m]Ty[/name_m] or [name_u]Tyson[/name_u] and you still get the family connection.

Good idea! I could ask him about that one

I voted for [name_u]Tyson[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u], but after reading more about the situation I think [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] would be nice.

I respect your husbands waiting to honor his mother.

My first choice would be [name_m]Wilson[/name_m] [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] or [name_m]Wilson[/name_m] [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]. The nicknames [name_m]Will[/name_m] or [name_m]Wills[/name_m] or W.T. would work nicely. You could also go with [name_m]Tyrone[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] which gets away from a [name_m]Mike[/name_m] [name_u]Tyson[/name_u] connection. Another options I like is [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Wilson[/name_m] nn [name_m]Luke[/name_m].

[name_m]Tiberius[/name_m] [name_u]Yale[/name_u] or [name_m]Tiberius[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m] could give you the nickname [name_m]Ty[/name_m].

[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] would be a great combo.

To honor [name_f]Tyna[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]…
His middle or first name could be something like…[name_m]Lucian[/name_m] (looshin) or lucky as a nickname
[name_m]Tanner[/name_m]
[name_m]Turner[/name_m]
[name_m]Tyrone[/name_m]
[name_u]Tyler[/name_u]
[name_m]Trey[/name_m]
[name_m]Traven[/name_m] tray-ven/tray-vun
First name could be [name_m]Luke[/name_m] or [name_u]Luca[/name_u], or [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] to oh our her middle name

I really like [name_m]Ty[/name_m] as a nn, and I like the other suggestions of using a [name_m]Luc[/name_m] name too. Some names to get the nn [name_m]Ty[/name_m]:

[name_m]Tyrese[/name_m]
[name_u]Tyler[/name_u]
[name_m]Tiberius[/name_m]
[name_m]Tariq[/name_m]

[name_m]Luc[/name_m] names I like are:

[name_u]Luca[/name_u]
[name_m]Lucian[/name_m]

Thank you all! I talked to him about [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and he doesn’t like it :frowning:

[name_m]Tybalt[/name_m] [name_m]Lucien[/name_m]
[name_m]Titus[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m]
[name_m]Timothy[/name_m] [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]

Hmm. [name_m]Tyde[/name_m] sounds a bit more fresh than [name_u]Tyler[/name_u]. [name_m]Tyger[/name_m] is cute (I know it is out there, but people are naming their boys [name_m]Fox[/name_m] and [name_m]Bear[/name_m]). I also like the suggestion [name_m]Tybalt[/name_m] [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] quite a lot.

I like [name_m]Trey[/name_m] better than [name_m]Ty[/name_m]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about that?

Can’t you just use [name_m]Wilson[/name_m] as the middle name and choose a first name that you both love? You’d still be honoring her.

That was my suggestion exactly!

Is [name_f]Tyna[/name_f] a spelling variation of [name_f]Tina[/name_f] or is it pronounced differently? If it’s a variation of [name_f]Tina[/name_f], than it’s a diminutive of [name_f]Christina[/name_f] so maybe you could use [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] or [name_m]Christian[/name_m] for a boy (all have the same meaning). [name_m]Lucius[/name_m] and [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] also have the same meaning (and I believe the same root) as [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]. So how about [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] or [name_m]Christian[/name_m] [name_m]Lucius[/name_m]? I also think [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] or [name_u]Tyson[/name_u] [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] are great ideas, or you could just choose any name with the same initials as your [name_f]MIL[/name_f] if you wanted to.
