There are a lot of names on my list that I think can’t be used together, or I’d prefer to avoid using them, or am unsure whether or not I’d use them together for whatever reason (be that an association, or I personally think they’re too similar), so I thought I would put them all together in a sort of this-or-that type list, and was hoping you could tell me which you prefer, or which you would use.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] for fun/future planning, I’m not currently expecting, and I don’t have any children yet.
Also if you have any suggestions I’m always looking for new names so please feel free to leave as many as you like, as well as any opinions/favourites of the names listed.
[name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f] - I go back and fourth which I love more.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_u]Noel[/name_u] - if pronounced NOHL
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]/[name_f]Nora[/name_f]/[name_f]Moira[/name_f]/[name_f]Vera[/name_f]/[name_f]Phaedra[/name_f]/Meira - I like [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Vera[/name_f], and sort of [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f]. I think they’re usable together though.
[name_f]Moira[/name_f]/Meira/[name_u]Marian[/name_u] - definitely [name_u]Marian[/name_u], the other two don’t sound pleasant [name_f]IMO[/name_f]
[name_f]Ilana[/name_f]/[name_f]Liana[/name_f] - [name_f]Liana[/name_f] is really sweet. [name_f]Ilana[/name_f] reminds me of ill
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]/[name_f]Leda[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], it’s a sweet classic
[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]/[name_f]Leda[/name_f]/[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]/[name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] - I adore [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]!
[name_f]Leda[/name_f]/[name_u]Keeva[/name_u] - [name_u]Keeva[/name_u], although I prefer the trad. spelling fractionally
[name_u]Keeva[/name_u]/[name_u]Keely[/name_u] - [name_u]Keeva[/name_u], [name_u]Keely[/name_u] is nms
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f]/[name_f]Zelia[/name_f] - I really like [name_f]Zelia[/name_f], it’s got a very pretty sound
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]/[name_f]Alice[/name_f] - [name_f]Alice[/name_f], it feels sweet and classic, whereas [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] sounds fusty to me
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]/[name_f]Gwen[/name_f] - [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] is charming and fun
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]/[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] - [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], not a fan of the hard ending of [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]
[b][name_u]Rory[/name_u]/b/[name_f]Nora[/name_f] - [name_u]Rory[/name_u], it’s so handsome!
[b][name_u]Noel[/name_u]/b/[name_f]Nora[/name_f] - not a huge fan of either but I’d pick [name_u]Noel[/name_u], I have bad personal associations with [name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[b][name_u]James[/name_u]/b/[name_m]Julian[/name_m] - I love both so much, but I think I’d go for [name_u]James[/name_u] nn [name_u]Jamie[/name_u]
[name_f]Belle[/name_f]/[b][name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]/b - again, I really like both names, but today [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] is getting my vote
I think it usually comes down to [name_f]Nora[/name_f] & [name_f]Clara[/name_f] for me too, do you think they’re too similar as siblings? I think I’d definitely consider using them both if it came down to it, how about you?
Yes [name_u]Noel[/name_u] is with one syllable, like [name_m]Joel[/name_m].
I like [name_m]Joel[/name_m], [name_m]Saul[/name_m], [name_m]Sean[/name_m], [name_u]Evan[/name_u], [name_f]Nola[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Audra[/name_f], [name_f]Willa[/name_f], and [name_f]Vera[/name_f], thank you for the suggestions!
I personally think [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] can be sisters. Calling the names out loud you can clearly hear the difference. I know others on the forum would not agree. In real life, though, plenty of families have siblings and children and parents sharing letters or sounds. 3 out of 4 of us growing up had 4 letter names that all began with the same letter. Two of us also shared the same ending letter, the other the same sound. The only thing I felt bad about was my dad being left out. Currently, my son and I share the same last letter. And the horror, my maiden name and married name also ends in the same letter.
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_u]Marian[/name_u]
[name_f]Ilana[/name_f], but I’m not a fan of either really
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Phaedra[/name_f]
[name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f], spelled like this
same as above
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] (for all the next 3)
[name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_u]Noel[/name_u]
[name_u]James[/name_u] “[name_u]Jamie[/name_u]”
[name_f]Belle[/name_f]
Oo, okay! It’s interesting to me that you would suggest [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f]. I’m also from [name_m]Ontario[/name_m] and I feel like I would never get people to spell it or pronounce it right ever, and that it would end up just not being an option unless I spelled it [name_u]Keeva[/name_u]. I do if I’m honest though, slightly prefer the [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] spelling myself, so anyway it’s something to think about for me!
You’re probably right about the spelling issues, but since [name_u]Keeva[/name_u] isn’t common either I can see people spelling that wrong too. Pronunciation though, [name_u]Keeva[/name_u] is a lot more intuitive. I think people would figure it out though- I live in an area with a lot of immigrants from different places, some with names totally foreign to English speakers, and people figure it out quickly. I’m just not personally a fan of Anglicized spellings of international names though!
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]/[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
Meira - love but spelled [name_f]Mira[/name_f]
[name_f]Ilana[/name_f]
[name_f]Leda[/name_f]
[name_f]Leda[/name_f]/[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Leda[/name_f]
[name_u]Keeva[/name_u]
[name_f]Zelia[/name_f]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_f]Gwen[/name_f]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_u]Rory/name_u
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m] - love [name_u]James[/name_u] too
[name_u]Bellamy/name_u
