Honestly, I think all of them are. The first names are unique and lovely, and if you like the mns, well, you can do whatever you like with that spot. Two remarks on the boy’s names though - [name]Loki[/name] is the villain from [name]Thor[/name], if you care about things like that (many people don’t, and it’s a bit rich of a remark coming from somebody who’s highly tempted to use the name [name]Bellatrix[/name], I suppose ;)) and I’m a bit confused with the ø in Søren. I’m pronouncing it SO-renn in my head, as though the line isn’t there (I’m probably wrong), but in English-speaking countries Søren could look like more of a spelling mistake than a name. Although like I said, it’s an mn so it’s far less of a problem, really.
I especially love [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Signe[/name], by the way!
I love the nn [name]Andra[/name] for [name]Andromeda[/name], tho the full name does remind me of in the original movie The Parent Trap, the dogs name was [name]Andromeda[/name].
[name]Echo[/name] isn’t too out there, kinda pretty.
Megara seems useable bc of the nn [name]Meg[/name] that could come from it.
Lysandra reminds me of the boy name [name]Lysander[/name] which I really like, so I find the girl form useable too.
The others are too out there for me. I’m def a more classic, traditional style.
Well princessnoribori, thanks for commenting on my signature
[name]Loki[/name] is the Norse god of mischief and fire and he’s generally misunderstood. He causes problems but always fixes them and he’s usually the first one the other Gods ask for help when things go wrong. The line is the way it’s spelled in it’s original language and it’s pronounced sore-en.
I forgot I was going to put Laufey, which the [name]Edda[/name] says is pronounced low-fee (low rhymes with cow). I love it! What do you guys think?
PS – seems to be working since the troll posts are no longer visible.
I like Laufey but not really any of the others. I think [name]Loki[/name] is just fine, though the combos are a little long for me.
Laufey is not pronounced anything near low-fee. But jeez, it is hard to render is pronunciation. I speak a good deal of Icelandic, but there really are no sounds to copy from in the English language to make it easy to see how to pronounce this one.
I absolutely love [name]Andromeda[/name]. It’s actually my favorite of any of your names including the ones in your signature. Megara and Lysandra are also very beautiful and I love the mix of ancient mythology names and different cultural names you’ve got going on. I do have to say some oh the names like Zarex, [name]Quillon[/name], Inkeri, and Catori sound a bit like allergy medications or something. But I guess if they’re in the middle or have a very important meaning to you it’s not a bad.
I don’t speak Icelandic, so I have no clue how Laufey is suppose to be pronounced, but I wish I could know. The poetic [name]Edda[/name] said that it was pronounced like low-fee (low rhymes with cow) so that’s were I was getting it from. I don’t know how it’s really pronounced so that’s why I took it off my list
I was trying to think of a name to replace [name]Cassandra[/name], because I’m unsure of that one so if you guys think any of these would be good there? [name]Do[/name] you have other suggestions to go with [name]Persephone[/name], [name]Amelia[/name], and [name]Guinevere[/name]?
Zarex was a king of ancient Greece, [name]Quillon[/name] is Greek for Strong and I love the nn [name]Quill[/name] (I’m a writer). Inkeri is an Old Norse name I like the sound of but will never use, and Catori is Greek for pure, which I just like. Zarex and [name]Quillon[/name] are both important to me I appreciate the opinions even if the trolls aren’t gone yet.
I think [name]Andromeda[/name], Lysandra, Catori, Megara, and [name]Kynthia[/name] are all usable.
[name]Echo[/name] I don’t, mostly because I knew a dog named [name]Echo[/name] once and anytime anybody talked about him, people would say “Who?” “[name]Echo[/name].” “Who?” “[name]Echo[/name]!” So I feel like there would be a lot of teasing a la “Is there an [name]Echo[/name] in here?”
The only thing I’m worried about with Megara is the negative connections to [name]Heracles[/name]. [name]How[/name] many of you are familiar with these connections?
And Greyer, I completely agree about [name]Echo[/name]. I love it a lot bit it would only ever be a middle name if I ever decided to use it. It’s just a GP right now.
I swear I’ll use [name]Andromeda[/name] as a middle name if I can convince my husband to go with [name]Luna[/name] as a first. Yes, I’m an astronomy buff.
I know [name]Heracles[/name] slaughtered his wife and I think his children because of like a spell [name]Hera[/name] put on him but I can’t remember if that was Megara or not.
