Yesterday I posted about my two name crushes of the moment, [name_f]Colette[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. I appreciate all the positive feedback but well, I’m still undecided lol  Some of you said why not combine the two together and name her [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. I love the way that sounds by itself, but when you add our last name [name_m]Farmer[/name_m] to the end it sounds more like a silly occupation than a name. WDYT?
Also, although I personally don’t know any [name_f]Lily[/name_f]'s myself, it’s obviously a very popular name. I haven’t decided if that bothers me enough to not use it yet. I think it’s a classy, feminine name that will suit a little girl all the way to her elderly years, I just don’t want her to have too many classmates with the same name. Some of you suggested [name_f]Lila[/name_f] as an alternative to [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. I almost forgot how much I love [name_f]Lila[/name_f]! It was a name I loved for a long time and still do, I guess I just put it to the back of my mind because a lot of people were telling me how it will always be mispronounced as [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-luh. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but when I see [name_f]Lila[/name_f] I automatically say Lie-luh.
Here are my favorite [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Lila[/name_f] combinations. Which ones are your favorite?
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
Or do you like the combo [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] the most?
Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for all your feedback
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u], [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] & [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] are so lovely. I prefer the flow of [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f], or [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f]. but [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is still very pretty. Good luck!
Thank you [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] And I love [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f]. I think you may have just made it harder for me to decide lol
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f] is gorgeous!
I do think [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_m]Farmer[/name_m] kind of sounds like an occupation. Using [name_f]Lila[/name_f] instead eliminates that issue as well as the issue of the popularity of [name_f]Lily[/name_f]!
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u] are both very beautiful and my favourites.
I don’t care for [name_f]Colette[/name_f], but if you have to use it, [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f] flows better to me than [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] where [name_f]Lily[/name_f] almost becomes a -ly suffix as the l’s run together. Nicely, Happily, Colettily?
I love [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]'s idea of [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f] (though I prefer [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], just because I find it looks more finished).
I’m not crazy about [name_f]Colette[/name_f] as a first name (I adore the potential nickname [name_f]Etta[/name_f] though!), and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is a bit popular for me (I do still adore [name_f]Lilya[/name_f], though, even though I know it would almost always be shortened to [name_f]Lily[/name_f]).
I also love the idea of [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f], and although [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is pretty it doesn’t seem to flow as well xx
I agree with previous posters; [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f] is beautiful. [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is my favourite of the four you listed but I think it sounds better as [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], I’ve never been fond of multiple ‘a’ endings, I’m not keen on how they sound.
[name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is too much L. I like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]. Would you consider the combo [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] or [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_u]Sierra[/name_u]?
To begin with, I would never pronounce [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-lah. Ick. It is definitely Lie-lah.
Of your choices, I like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u] the best. [name_u]Simone[/name_u] is not my favorite, but that combo sounds the best to my ears. But I agree with some previous posters, that with [name_m]Farmer[/name_m] you should probably rule out [name_f]Lily[/name_f] altogether. Definitely sounds like an occupation. [name_m]Hi[/name_m], I’m a lily farmer.
I adore [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f], which others have suggested. As soon as I read that you like [name_f]Lila[/name_f] it popped into my head, and I think it is perfection.
I really love both [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Lila[/name_f]! In general, I prefer [name_f]Lily[/name_f] to [name_f]Lila[/name_f], but I’ve been really loving [name_f]Lila[/name_f] today. I like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] the best. I agree with @stripedsocks in regards to [name_f]Colette[/name_f]–it’s not a favorite of mine, either, but I agree that [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f] sounds much better (I was thinking the Colettily thing, too!).
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] is lovely! I agree with most that [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_m]Farmer[/name_m] would maybe cause some chuckles, although believe me there’s worse last names. I’m Belgian and speak Dutch, and an ex had the last name [name_u]Van[/name_u] Achter, which means ‘from behind’ in Dutch. You’re doomed with whatever name you pick then :D.
[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t be too worried about people saying lee-la, most people will more than likely say lai-la, it’s the most common pronunciation. And if they do say it wrong, one correction and they’ll remember.
I love [name_f]Colette[/name_f]! More than [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. But I like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f] more than [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. [name_m]Both[/name_m] are nice though.
All of your combos are lovely! [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f] and [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] are my faves.
I might stay away from [name_f]Lily[/name_f] if my last name were farmer - you’re right about the occupation thing. It’s not as though being a farmer of lilies is such an awful thing that you couldn’t use it if it’s your favorite, but if it can help narrow the list, great. It’s not as much of a concern in the middle spot because most of her life, people will probably not refer to her by all three names – usually just first and last. The middle can be a good place to use a name that you love that for whatever reason doesn’t work as a first for you.
I love [name_f]Colette[/name_f] so much that I have to put my vote in that corner, though. [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] is an awesome old-fashioned nickname which feels a bit like [name_f]Lily[/name_f], too. [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Lileas[/name_f], [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Liliane[/name_f], [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]…
I’ve seen [name_f]Lila[/name_f] come up so much on these boards and [name_m]IRL[/name_m] lately that I have a bit of [name_f]Lila[/name_f] fatigue! But you can’t deny that it’s very pretty, and if you really love [name_f]Lil[/name_f]- names it might solve the occupation dilemma very nicely.
