I prefer [name_f]Celine[/name_f] of the two. I think it’s meaning fits it well. I imagine a [name_f]Celine[/name_f] to be willowy and ethereal. [name_f]Gilda[/name_f] on the other hand feels a little harsh. It makes me think of a guild. Definitely a strong name. More of [name_f]Xena[/name_f] warrior princess type.
I prefer Celine’s sound and look.
[name_f]Edit[/name_f]: I misread [name_f]Gilda[/name_f] as [name_f]Glinda[/name_f], like from [name_m]Wizard[/name_m] of [name_m]Oz[/name_m]. I have no strong associations with [name_f]Gilda[/name_f] except maybe the word “gilded” but this might be a common mistake.
[name_f]Celine[/name_f] is sleek, modern, luxurious. I prefer it in both sound and appearance. [name_f]Gilda[/name_f] seems like comparing apples and oranges tbh - very old fashioned and not in style at the moment.
[name_f]Celine[/name_f] used be a name I like a lot but now I just find it somehow boring (no offense to who like those) and I don’t like it much anymore. I love [name_f]Gilda[/name_f] and this sound! So strong and fairy-tale esque and for a warrior. I embrace strength and prosperity in girls: it has a great meaning and the sweet nickname of [name_f]Ida[/name_f] and Gilla / [name_u]Gillie[/name_u] as well, which I prefer (are much more spunky) than Celi and [name_f]Lina[/name_f], although they are sweet! I don’t find it to be old fashioned because I never heard it anywhere, but it sounds the name of an epical medieval warrior.
I do like [name_f]Celine[/name_f] (and if you want to avoid the [name_m]Dion[/name_m] association, I’d recommend [name_f]Celina[/name_f], which is prn like the [name_f]English[/name_f] pronunciation of Selena) better than [name_f]Gilda[/name_f], which is lovely but reminds me of fish gills and could be misread as [name_f]Golda[/name_f], [name_f]Glinda[/name_f] etc.
