Both are great, but [name_m]Leon[/name_m] is fantastic!!
Personally I feel neutral toward both but I prefer [name_m]Leon[/name_m] over [name_m]Viktor[/name_m].
I like [name_m]Victor[/name_m] much better than [name_m]Leon[/name_m] but [name_m]Leon[/name_m] better than [name_m]Viktor[/name_m] as the latter looks hard and not as classic to me with the K (depending where you live that is).
I prefer [name_m]Victor[/name_m] over [name_m]Leon[/name_m]. And [name_m]Victor[/name_m] over [name_m]Viktor[/name_m].
I like [name_m]Viktor[/name_m] better, it’s a strong name with harder(?) sounds. [name_m]Leon[/name_m] just sounds softer to me…
If you try saying them aloud a few times like ‘This is [name_m]Viktor[/name_m]’ and ‘This is [name_m]Leon[/name_m]’ then you can choose which sounds better/flows better. It could be that I’m just pronouncing [name_m]Leon[/name_m] with such a strong E that it sounds unappealing to me only
You should pronounce [name_m]Leon[/name_m] as “[name_m]Lion[/name_m]” in my country. What about the name “[name_u]Jules[/name_u]”?
Or any other suggestions for stylish old names?
I chose [name_m]Viktor[/name_m]. I’m in the US so I think we pronounce [name_m]Leon[/name_m] a little differently. I think the K gives it a bit of a nice edge. But might be seen differently in other parts of the world.
I love Russian names on boys… I love [name_m]Vladimir[/name_m]… so you might want to take that into consideration.
I’d be intersting to know where you live as I cannot think of a language that pronounces their Es as EYE as in “[name_m]Lion[/name_m]” or do you mean that if you’d pronounce [name_m]Lion[/name_m] in your language that it would sound like the English [name_m]Leon[/name_m] (which would make more sense, it’s the same in [name_m]German[/name_m])?
If you should be in Europe (save the British Isles), I think [name_m]Viktor[/name_m], with this spelling, would be very handsome and classic; [name_m]Leon[/name_m] is so popular where I live, I’m bored of it (the English [name_m]Leon[/name_m] does sound a bit fresher but I wouldn’t choose it in a non-English speaking country).
I really like [name_u]Jules[/name_u] in [name_m]French[/name_m] while I’m not a big an of the “Jools” pronunciation.
I voted for [name_m]Leon[/name_m]. I love vintage old man type names, and really like the NN [name_m]Leo[/name_m].
[name_m]Viktor[/name_m] with a K looks like a European spelling to me (not sure where you are) but I like the [name_m]Victor[/name_m] spelling better.
I’m from Belgium and there are both [name_m]Leon[/name_m] as [name_m]Victor[/name_m] in the top 15, [name_m]Viktor[/name_m] is less popular. But when you count [name_m]Victor[/name_m] and [name_m]Viktor[/name_m] together, it’s actually the most popular name at the moment.
But these days the most of the names are in the top 30… That’s for a reason, they are the nicest. But I don’t think you should leave a name because it’s in the top 20, only when it’s top 3…
We still like both [name_m]Viktor[/name_m] as [name_m]Leon[/name_m], but because of my surname and in my family there are also 2 names with a V, [name_m]Leon[/name_m] would be more refreshing, not?
I prefer [name_m]Victor[/name_m] over [name_m]Viktor[/name_m]. But [name_m]Leon[/name_m] over [name_m]Viktor[/name_m]!
Not sure if that helps you?!
