[name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] or [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f]
I’m just curious about this and I’m probably going to change things around if my S/O doesn’t like it. But anyway which one sounds pleasant to read out loud?
I prefer [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]! I know you were just asking about the sound but [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] is a little close to [name_u]Marie[/name_u] [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] for me.
Purely on sound, [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] flows maybe slightly better to my ear. But I prefer [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] to [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f], and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] reminded me immediately of [name_u]Marie[/name_u] [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f], so I definitely prefer [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] overall! I also just really like the warm, friendly, spunky vibe of that combo!
Mae Antoinette sounds and looks better to me!! I like Bernadette too though.
Edit:
Hmm. Read some comments. Now I’m hearing the Marie Antoinette connection but I didn’t notice it right away. That might be why it “sounded and looked better”. One cute thing about Mae Bernadette is a nickname could be “MaeB/Maeby/Maybe” (regardless of spelling it’s cute! And if you’re an Arrested Development fan…). So yeah, now I’m 50/50 I like both combos. I’m no help here. Haha
They’re both lovely but I prefer [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]. If I say [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] fast enough, it sort of sounds like I’m saying [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f]. The association is so strong, I think my brain just makes the shortcut to that whether that’s the name or not!
I love [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] - I think the strong consonant sounds in [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] complement the softness of [name_f]Mae[/name_f] really nicely.
