I prefer [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] for a boy! I like the look of [name_u]Grey[/name_u] slightly more.
I prefer [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]. I just always assume the [name_u]Gray[/name_u] spelling over the [name_u]Grey[/name_u] spelling.
I much prefer [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]. There are enough e’s in [name_u]Emerson[/name_u].
I prefer [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] because it’s a bit closer to your mom’s name. [name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted to add that it’s hard to tell at first whether [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]/[name_u]Grey[/name_u] is a girl or a boy, because of the trend for boy names on girls, and if it were me I’d choose a more clearly masculine middle name. I do love [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] for a boy though.
Thank you, all.
[name_u]Mel[/name_u]-finch, we personally feel that [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] and [name_u]Gray[/name_u]/[name_u]Grey[/name_u] are both strong male names. We have no concerns of people mistaking an [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] for a girl. I actually feel that a female [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] could be the one that is mistaken as male. Same with [name_u]Gray[/name_u]/[name_u]Grey[/name_u]. I hope this does not sound like I am being snippety, I am not trying to come across that way. I am also not against boy names on girls, some sound really cute on a girl, but they are exactly that, a boy name on a girl.
I voted for [name_u]Grey[/name_u] but then read your post. I’d go with [name_u]Gray[/name_u] if it were in honour of a [name_u]Gay[/name_u] (my aunt’s name is [name_f]Gaye[/name_f], I think it’s lovely).
@lovemysweeties No, you don’t sound snippety, it’s fine. I agree that [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] and [name_u]Gray[/name_u] are both strong male names, and I’m definitely not in favour of using boy names for girls. I was just saying that because it’s a trend that’s becoming more common, I would hesitate to use two ‘unisex’ names together. That’s all I meant - I’m sorry if it came across any other way.
Hmmm. I’d go with [name_u]Gray[/name_u], since it’s a) closer to [name_u]Gay[/name_u], b) less E-heavy next to [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], and c) not the spelling used in 50 Shades.
I did not feel like you were coming across any other way except to state your concern of using a name that is also used for girls. I appreciate you voicing that concern. I just wanted to answer that concern.
Thank you, all. It seems that both spellings are pretty equally liked.
Hmmm. This is a tough one. I always spell it with an A, but I’m liking the look of the E with [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]. Then again, A would honor your mother. So I went ahead and voted A.
Thank you, cheele.
I think we have decided to stick with the [name_u]Gray[/name_u] spelling. I like the look of [name_u]Grey[/name_u] better with [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] but I want to keep as close to [name_u]Gay[/name_u] as possible.
In general, I prefer the spelling [name_u]Gray[/name_u] but I think following [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] it would look better spelled [name_u]Grey[/name_u].
I think that the middle should be spelt as [name_u]Grey[/name_u] to give more flow and look of continuity to the combo as [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] seems a better match to read with the repeating “e” in them.
I picked [name_u]Gray[/name_u] to honor your mom. This name is not my style at all, but I like that you picked a middle name with meaning.
