I always want to pronounce [name_m]Teague[/name_m] as tee-guh, so [name_m]Tadhg[/name_m] gets my vote

I love [name_m]Tadhg[/name_m]

I am swooning over it! You actually suggested it in one of my previous posts! Honestly I thought it was a typo at first! I love the meaning too, tysm for commenting and helping me find this name, I think I’m obsessed lol

I agree! When compared to Reagan or Teagan, you get the hard eee sound… Teague confuses me at first glance.

Honestly neither of these spellings are intuitive for me at all. [name_m]Teague[/name_m] I would assume is pronounced like [name_u]Teagan[/name_u] just without the -an (like teeg). And Tadgh is extremely hard for me to figure out. [name_f]My[/name_f] first instinct was something like Tad-guh or [name_m]Tag[/name_m], but if I saw it I would honestly have no clue how to pronounce it and I don’t really see how you get tie-guh from it at all. For reference, I am American and only speak [name_f]English[/name_f] so I’m sure that is part of my confusion.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] the pronunciation of this name, and I usually dislike made-up spellings, but in this case it might be worth it in the US. Definitely tricky to get an intuitive spelling.

Maybe:
[name_m]Tyge[/name_m]
[name_m]Tige[/name_m]
Taig

[name_m]Teague[/name_m] doesn’t seem phonetic (in English) for Tie-guh (I guessed Teeg, rhyming with league), so in that case I’d go with what I presume is the original Gaelic spelling of Tadgh.

This is a beautiful name, but I think it will be a challenge outside of Gaelic-speaking areas; which is not to say it isn’t worth that challenge, just that I think many people will say “Tad” or “Tag.”

I thought it was pronounced this way too!

This feels the most phonetic to me, but also doesn’t seem like the “same” name as Tadgh since it’s visually so different.

However, it’s also the name of a region in Siberia (also pronounced Ty-guh, I believe), so that is a cool alternate meaning/origin, and perhaps an easier name to wear (outside of Gaelic speaking communities). Actually really crushing on [name_u]Taiga[/name_u] now!
