I actually prefer [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Elle[/name_f] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_f]Elle[/name_f] to any of the others, but of the three you suggested, I would choose [name_f]Marielle[/name_f].

I choose [name_f]Marielle[/name_f] if you were to pronounce it “mah-ree-el”. If not, I like [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_f]Elle[/name_f].

[name_f]Marielle[/name_f] is actual name - no need to use [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_f]Elle[/name_f]. You could also use [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-L or what not. (but that last was sarcasm.)

Thanks! I actually like [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_f]Elle[/name_f] a lot too, but my husband didnt care for it. For [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Elle[/name_f], I cant decide how that would work on the birth certificate and other formal documents. Woul you write “[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Elle[/name_f]” as the first name and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as the middle? Does [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] work or no?

My first thought with [name_f]Marielle[/name_f] is that it will be pronounced “Mahr-ee-ell.” [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think that would be likely mispronounced?
I know a [name_f]Mari[/name_f] and she is “MAHR-ee.” Its a beautiful name but not quite what we were going for.

Most American would probably say Mehriel.

Ahh, yes, that too. Thanks.
Hmm. We do want a name that has an obvious, undisputed pronunciation.

I would’ve said [name_f]Marielle[/name_f] like [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_f]Elle[/name_f] at first glance. I think it’s the prettiest spelling.

Thank you

I voted [name_f]Marielle[/name_f] because it looks the most natural to me, but thinking about it I would pronounce that “mah-ree-[name_f]ELL[/name_f]”, with the first part rhyming with [name_m]Harry[/name_m], not [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. [name_f]Merielle[/name_f] might get you closer to the pronunciation you want, although again I’d say that first part like “merry”, not [name_f]Mary[/name_f] (in some accents these are the same, however).

[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Elle[/name_f] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_f]Elle[/name_f] really does seem like your best bet in terms of guaranteeing the pronunciation you want.

I’m not sure how double first names work in the US or in your state, but I imagine you just write both firsts in the box together, and the middle name in a separate box. I do know that when the SSA name data is collated, double and hyphenated names are treated as smooshes (ie. Maryelle or Annarose rather than [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Elle[/name_f] or [name_f]Anna[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f]), but I’m not sure if the same is true of, for example, identification documents and similar. Of course, you and she could write it however you wanted for day-to-day use, but I’m not sure how it would be “officially” recorded.

Thank you

You can tell where someone is from in the US if they say the words [name_f]Mary[/name_f], marry, and merry all the same, or all different, or 2 the same etc. I say all three words differently.
[name_f]Marielle[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is my favorite-- but I would pronounce it marry-ell.
If you want it pronounced like [name_f]Mary[/name_f], I would go with [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]

I’m a [name_f]Marielle[/name_f] pronounced the way you want. I love my name, and I get compliments on it a lot. Sometimes when people first read it, like at a doctors office or Starbucks, they say Mah-ree-ell. It’s not a huge deal to correct people, and I only correct people who will know me. It’s like 50/50 if they pronounce it correctly at first glance. However, once someone knows how to say it, they usually remember.

I would also pronounce all three spellings differently…[name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_f]Elle[/name_f] w/the traditional pronunciation of [name_f]Mare[/name_f]-ee L; [name_f]Marielle[/name_f] w/the aforementioned pronunciation of [name_f]Mar[/name_f]- rhyming w/the beginning of [name_m]Harry[/name_m], then ee-L; [name_f]Merielle[/name_f] (which is my favorite, but I don’t think this is the pronunciation you’re going for) w/Mer- rhyming w/brrr (what you say when it’s cold), then ee-L. I am one of those people who pronounce [name_f]Mary[/name_f], marry, merry, & murray all differently.

Wow! All are great names:) love them all!

I would pronounce [name_f]Marielle[/name_f] the way you like. [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_f]Elle[/name_f] I would say with a pause in between, like two separate names.
