I agree - the Spanish name [name]Matias[/name] is pronounced the way you are looking for. I have heard [name]Matthias[/name] and [name]Mattias[/name] pronounced as ma-[name]TYE[/name]-us.

Thank you!

We like the way “[name]Mattias[/name]” looks - it’s the Swedish version, and also pronounced muh-TEE-us… The goal is to pick the version that makes the most sense in an American context and leads to the least amount of confusion. Thanks for voting!

[name]Mattias[/name] just looks the best. I have always liked this spelling over the others.

[name]Mattias[/name] is the most intuitive. I think if you went with [name]Matias[/name] his name would constantly be misspelled

[name]Mattias[/name] is my favourite spelling. I love this name! I would automatically pronounce [name]Matthias[/name] as muh-thigh-us.

I voted for [name]Mattias[/name]. Dropping the “h” is much more likely to get you the “tee.”

Thanks to everyone who voted and commented, your input is much appreciated!!

I voted for [name]Mattias[/name] because I’d be worried about the -th- pronunciation for most Americans.
However, [name]Mathias[/name] is my favorite spelling of the name. Though you’d probably get a lot of Ma-thigh-as.
