I have chosen to keep the name my parents gave me but I am not sure on the spelling. Either to keep the spelling [name_f]Laura[/name_f] or to change to [name_f]Lora[/name_f].
Which spelling would you choose?
Which spelling is easier to live with?
Which spelling goes better with the middle name [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]?
Definitely [name_f]Laura[/name_f], on all counts. Honestly, I think [name_f]Laura[/name_f] is the more recognizable of the two, which makes it the better choice.
I prefer [name_f]Laura[/name_f]. To me it seems a lot more widely recognised than [name_f]Lora[/name_f]. [name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is a beautiful combination.
[name_f]Laura[/name_f]. [name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is really nice, too.
[name_f]Laura[/name_f] is far more recognisable and would be much easier to live with than [name_f]Lora[/name_f], which would commonly be misspelled, I’d think.
I think that [name_f]Laura[/name_f] is by far the nicest of the two, and checks off all of the boxes for the questions you asked. It’s a lovely name, and I really like [name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], it has a lovely lilt to it, and looks great written
[name_f]Laura[/name_f] for everything [name_f]Lara[/name_f] is my second favorite. I’d say only go with [name_f]Lora[/name_f] if you hate being called “lawra” ([name_f]Lara[/name_f]) over [name_f]Lora[/name_f], because I know Lauras that go by the pronunciations [name_f]Lara[/name_f] and [name_f]Lora[/name_f]. So tbh it probably depends on what you’re most worried about.
I actually pronounce these names differently. I say [name_m]Law[/name_m]-ra for [name_f]Laura[/name_f] and [name_f]Lore[/name_f]-a for [name_f]Lora[/name_f]. I’m probably the minority in that, but perhaps it’s something to take into consideration?
I vastly prefer the [name_f]Laura[/name_f]. I do like the suggestion of [name_f]Lara[/name_f] though.
