[name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_f]Brielle[/name_f]

[name_f]Layla[/name_f] and [name_f]Laila[/name_f] are the most phonetic spellings of the Arabic name  I’ve seen both spellings (I think) used in English transcriptions of prayers online.

I infinitely prefer [name_f]Leila[/name_f].

[name_f]Leila[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Leila[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Leila[/name_f] [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f]
[name_f]Leila[/name_f] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]
[name_f]Leila[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f]

[name_f]Layla[/name_f].
It seems the most phonetic, and it’s also the most popular spelling so it’s probably less likely it will be misspelled.
[name_f]Leila[/name_f] makes me think lee-la and [name_f]Laila[/name_f] just looks a bit off to me.

In a way I prefer [name_f]Leila[/name_f] but it would annoy me for people to say [name_u]Lee[/name_u] la so I would opt for [name_f]Layla[/name_f].

Here we go:

They’ve got it as ‘layla’.

I like [name_f]Leila[/name_f] much better than the others–the y feels slightly annoying, and [name_f]Laila[/name_f], while lovely, is pronounced slightly differently in my experience.

I thought it was [name_f]Layla[/name_f]/[name_f]Leyla[/name_f] to be honest. I think [name_f]Layla[/name_f]'s my favourite though. Thank you for the help1

FWIW my daughter’s name is spelled [name_f]Leila[/name_f] and I’ve never heard anyone mispronounce it [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-la and she’ll be 8 years old in [name_f]May[/name_f]. Also, she loves her name, which is nice. It’s unique (she’s the only one at her school) but with all the girls named [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Leah[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], it’s not “too” different to make her feel self-conscious.
