It depends on what sound you’re trying to make. ‘ki’ makes a ‘k’ sound, while ‘ci’ traditionally makes a ‘s’ sound.
I voted for [name]Cillian[/name] as I find the “kill” part of [name]Killian[/name] off-putting.
I’m torn. I feel like the [name]Cillian[/name] spelling is better, since it’s the original spelling, and I like that it gets rid of the “kill” in the spelling, at least, but I feel like [name]Killian[/name] has a bit more personality, and would be pronounced wrong less… I voted for [name]Killian[/name], but I really like [name]Cillian[/name], too. If I gave it more time, I might switch my vote to [name]Cillian[/name] instead.
Agreed, I love the name, but with a ‘K’, it changes my perception.
Yes, I do think its hard to get away from the ‘kill’ in [name]Killian[/name], but as ashthedreamer said, somehow [name]Killian[/name] seems stronger to me where [name]Cillian[/name] seems much softer. Still can’t decide which one I prefer though!
If you want people to pronounce it right, go the [name]Killian[/name] otherwise your kid will be called “silly-ann”
D’oh, my mouse slipped. I meant to vote for [name]Cillian[/name].
Whoa, I just brought the poll up even by voting for [name]Cillian[/name]. I prefer it because it’s the more authentically Irish spelling. I think people will catch on to the correct pronunciation pretty easily. I met an adult [name]Cillian[/name], from [name]Dublin[/name], this past winter, and during the few days of introducing himself to others in the group and having his name printed on schedules, etc., I didn’t notice anyone having trouble with his name.
