[name]Marcus[/name] for sure. [name]Markus[/name] just looks wrong to me (although it seems like it could be legit, too lazy to look it up). Are you planning on shortening it to [name]Mark[/name]? My cousins asked about this when they had their son, but with [name]Lucas[/name]. They wanted to spell it [name]Lukas[/name] to spell it [name]Luke[/name] but I told them I knew tons of people named [name]Lucas[/name] nn [name]Luke[/name]. So if that’s a reasoning for either of you, that’s my opinion on the matter!
It is the [name]German[/name] spelling of [name]Marcus[/name] so it is legit. My concern is that people will assume its a kre8tyve spelling. I actually like [name]Markus[/name] better but prefer [name]Marc[/name] or [name]Mark[/name] so I’m kind of stuck. Lol.
Middle name options are [name]Anthony[/name] (which is waay too close to [name]Mark[/name] [name]Antony[/name] for me) or [name]Wilhelm[/name] ([name]Markus[/name] [name]Wilhelm[/name] seems like trying to hard to be cultural).
This is all hypothetical since I’m years away from kids but siblings would be [name]Isaac[/name] and [name]Milena[/name]/ [name]Lilith[/name].
I prefer [name]Marcus[/name] to [name]Markus[/name]. I always felt that the K kills the visual flow of the name. I think [name]Marcus[/name] [name]Wilhelm[/name] would be a really nice combo. [name]Marcus[/name] [name]Anthony[/name] is just too close to [name]Mark[/name] [name]Anthony[/name] and a little to [name]Roman[/name] Emperor for me.
I’m half Swedish and grew up there. In [name]Sweden[/name], both [name]Marcus[/name] and [name]Markus[/name]'s are used and none of them are considered creative or different. So for me, [name]Markus[/name] is just a regular spelling and the one I like the most. But I’m not sure how I feel about [name]Markus[/name] in the US…For an American/British/Australian (English speaking world) kid, I think I prefer [name]Marcus[/name].
I prefer the classic [name]Marcus[/name]. Plus, the only [name]Marcus[/name] I knew spelled it [name]Markus[/name], and he totally ruined it for me. So I say [name]Marcus[/name] all the way.
I VASTLY prefer [name]Marcus[/name]. [name]Just[/name] looks much better on paper to me - I agree with lexiem that the K in the middle throws off the visual flow.
The k looks odd. Go with [name]Marcus[/name]!
I would go with [name]Marcus[/name], but have some friends here in the US who used [name]Markus[/name], as they are of [name]German[/name] heritage. They haven’t had any problems that I know of. [name]Mark[/name] [name]Anthony[/name] the [name]Roman[/name] general (as opposed to J Lo’s ex) was [name]Marcus[/name] [name]Antonius[/name], so you may want to skip [name]Anthony[/name] as the middle name.
If 90% of people would spell it [name]Marcus[/name] in the culture where your son would be living make his life easy and go with that - eg I know that Bridghid is more correct than [name]Bridget[/name] but I would go with the [name]Bridget[/name] spelling to save a lifetime of corrections!
