Not even sure I can vote. I’ve been struggling with deciding… for months, years? now? I’ve had the name on my list and love it dearly, I do like both, completely uncertain which I like better, lol.
Good luck!! They both have their feelings to me. The ‘e’ is more sharp, juvenile, trendy, but I like the sharper look and feel of it. The ‘a’ is more softer/feminine handsome I guess? It’s more adult like but it’s more rounder…
Those have been my thoughts on them lol.

haha my sentiments exactly. Although, [name_m]Julian[/name_m] is increasingly looking like [name_u]Julie[/name_u] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] to me… It’s been a favorite since I was 13! I think [name_m]Julien[/name_m] conveys the sound more accurately and though I have absolutely no evidence of this I just feel [name_m]Julien[/name_m] has more history. I should look into that…
I’d go with [name_m]Julian[/name_m] unless you have some cultural tie to the other spelling. For instance, [name_m]Julien[/name_m] is the traditional [name_m]French[/name_m] spelling. If you have ties to [name_f]France[/name_f] or [name_m]French[/name_m]-speaking countries (or hope your baby may some day!) I would go with that spelling. I would say [name_m]Julien[/name_m] if you’re [name_m]French[/name_m]. [name_m]Julian[/name_m] is pretty standard. It’s the same with [name_m]Damian[/name_m] vs [name_m]Damien[/name_m], [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] vs [name_m]Lucien[/name_m], etc. Whichever floats your boat, but I prefer [name_m]Julian[/name_m].
To me [name_m]Julian[/name_m] does look more proper and looks a lot me natural! I think the [name_m]Julien[/name_m] way looks a bit made up to me.
The “ien” sounds feminine given its similarity to the name “[name_f]Julienne[/name_f]”.
I prefer [name_m]Julian[/name_m]. Firstly, because it has a link to a book series I used to love listening to on tape, and secondly, because [name_m]Julien[/name_m] reminds me of [name_f]Julienne[/name_f], so I actually find that version more feminine in looks. Also I’d feel compelled to say [name_m]Julien[/name_m] how it’s said in [name_m]French[/name_m], which I have no hope of achieving without thinking about it for a while first.
I would go with [name_m]Julian[/name_m] unless you were going to pronounce [name_m]Julien[/name_m] in the [name_m]French[/name_m] manner.
They’re pronounced different. If you’re going for “JOOL-ee-in” use [name_m]Julian[/name_m].
