[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] or [name_f]Viktoria[/name_f]?
We’re a [name_m]German[/name_m]-English speaking family living in Germany and torn on the spelling. I prefer [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and my husband prefers [name_f]Viktoria[/name_f]. [name_f]Viktoria[/name_f] seems to be the natural spelling here, but as a native English speaker it still comes across as a “trendy” spelling to me.
Thoughts?
If you’re going to live in Germany = [name_f]Viktoria[/name_f]
If you’re going to live in an English speaking country e.g. [name_m]Britain[/name_m], [name_u]America[/name_u], Australia = [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
I assume you’re living in Germany, so I’d go with [name_f]Viktoria[/name_f] if that’s the ‘go to’ spelling there.
+1 for [name_f]Viktoria[/name_f] if you’re in Germany.
I agree, plus, it honors the [name_m]German[/name_m] heritage.
I don’t think you have to worry about [name_f]Viktoria[/name_f] looking trendy or invented if it’s the typical spelling where you live, but I greatly prefer [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. The “kt” throws the whole name off balance for me and makes it feel aggressive. I don’t mind [name_f]Veronika[/name_f] (from your signature) compared to [name_f]Veronica[/name_f], it’s just the way the k and t clash in the middle.

[name_f]Viktoria[/name_f] is not as class.
It’s a legit spelling, so I’d go for it
