Which spelling?

[name_f]Alana[/name_f]
[name_f]Alannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Alanah[/name_f]

[name_f]My[/name_f] SO and I both love this name for our second (sister to Josephine) but can’t settle on a spelling.

We’re in the UK and would like it to be pronounced Al-ar-na

Thanks!

The only one I’ve met in real life was an [name_f]Alannah[/name_f] and I loved her name and spelling.

I like either [name_f]Alana[/name_f] or [name_f]Alanna[/name_f] the best.

I knew an [name_f]Alana[/name_f] who pronounced it similarly to how you’ll be saying it, and her name was often mispronounced as [name_f]Alaina[/name_f]. So I like the spelling [name_f]Alanna[/name_f] because I think it helps clarify the pronunciation. But I have no idea if that would be an issue in the UK.

With sister [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] specifically I prefer [name_f]Alannah[/name_f].

I think I like [name_f]Alannah[/name_f] best. I feel like it clarifies the PN and goes well with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] which is also quite a long name.

definitely [name_f]Alannah[/name_f]!

For your pronunciation, I’d go with [name_f]Alana[/name_f], which also feels the most classic, working well with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f].

[name_f]Alannah[/name_f], I would pronounce with an -anna ending, rather than -ana.

Alana is perfect! :purple_heart:

I like Alana. Nice and streamlined.

I’ve never seen it with an h. [name_f]Alana[/name_f] seems the most classic which goes well with classic [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]

[name_f]Alana[/name_f]!

I’ve always preferred the [name_f]Alannah[/name_f] spelling as it feels more “complete” to me (not sure why), but I know an [name_f]Alana[/name_f] in real life and I’ve always thought the way she spelled her name was lovely too.

[name_f]Alana[/name_f]

I prefer [name_f]Alana[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] first intuition would be to pronounce [name_f]Alannah[/name_f] like [name_f]Hannah[/name_f].

[name_f]Alana[/name_f] since some people pronounce Alannah/Alanna like [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] or [name_f]Savannah[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Alana[/name_f] the best!
