I absolutely love the name Margaux/Margot and has special meaning since my mom’s name is [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] and it’s my middle name as well. I like both spellings equally but I’m worried about pronunciation issues with the -gaux spelling in the US and think the -got spelling would be a nice way to honor my mom without having the exact same name. If I don’t use it as a first it will definitely be a middle spelled [name_f]Margaux[/name_f]. Which spelling do you prefer? also feel free to add any middle name and sibling suggestions!
I don’t think I can choose between [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f], I really like them both. I’d lean towards using [name_f]Margot[/name_f] myself but as [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] is your family’s spelling I love that for you!

I prefer [name_f]Margaux[/name_f]. I am from Midwest USA & the only spelling I’ve seen irl is [name_f]Margaux[/name_f]. I actually think the [name_f]Margot[/name_f] spelling would be more complicated pronunciation wise because people will think they know how to say it & not ask about pronunciation. So even though [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] looks more complex, I think that people will be more likely to just ask how it’s pronounced if they don’t know.
Summary
This is kinda the experience I’ve had with my maiden names vs my married name. [name_f]My[/name_f] maiden name had a consonant cluster that doesn’t exist in [name_f]English[/name_f], so people would just ask how to say my name & they’d quickly leaned the correct pronunciation. With my married name, people think they can pronounce but usually get it wrong, and I’ve found that it’s more of an effort to correct the pronunciation when people don’t ask because they don’t think they need to. So that’s why I think it’d actually be easier to be a [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] than a [name_f]Margot[/name_f].
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] is definitely more usable in the US, if that’s a concern.

I would use [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] to stay with the spelling of your family name but also, if people aren’t familiar with the name I think that is easier to figure out than [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. I would be concerned that some thought the pronunciation is Mar-got, using the t sound at the end. [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] fits better as an International name which I think is important in today’s world.

I feel that [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] elevates [name_f]Margot[/name_f] just has the right level of sophistication the x providing a cool visual interest to the name and I also love that this is a family spelling. If it was me I would use [name_f]Margaux[/name_f]! Personally the name is so recognisable I cannot envision pronunciation issues.

[name_f]Margaux[/name_f]. It’s so elegant and sophisticated. And it keeps the spelling preserved in the family. Yes, she will have to always spell her name but a lot of simpler names also have to be spelled. If the pronunciation is butchered it’s only because some regions of [name_u]America[/name_u] bastardize [name_u]French[/name_u] names. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is probably the more common spelling but it’s a bit less interesting.

I like [name_f]Margo[/name_f] best but for you I like [name_f]Margot[/name_f]! It feels sleek and sophisticated and [name_u]French[/name_u], but not over the top.
I like both equally. [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] is more balances and unique however [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is tidier and easier to remember how to spell.
I prefer Margot to Margaux! Even though both have silent letters, I think the -ot is more intuitive/familiar in the US that -aux (except maybe in Louisiana), so more likely to get pronounced correctly the first time. Plus, it will probably be easier for her, her friends, and her teachers to remember how to spell her name. I could see Margaux getting alternate misspellings like -eaux or something.

Ever so slight preference for Margaux over Margot. The x is so cool. It’s an amazing name spelled either way though!
And I wouldn’t worry about pronunciation. Americans know how to say other French words like faux and Bordeaux
