Which way to get to Maggie?

Which way do you prefer to get to [name]Maggie[/name] as a NN?

[name]Magdalena[/name]

[name]Margaret[/name]

[name]Marguerite[/name]

[name]Margot[/name]

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Margot[/name], it’s so simple and elegant, and will last from childhood to adulthood through whatever career path she’ll choose. [name]Margot[/name] wins my vote.
[name]Marguerite[/name] comes in second, but it’s never been a favorite of mine. I can’t explain it. It just doesn’t have the graceful charm that other French names (like [name]Margot[/name]!) do.
[name]Margaret[/name] speaks prim-and-proper woman in her 30s with a desk job, and while it does offer an array of nicknames, I know many more Margarets who go by [name]Meg[/name] than go by [name]Maggie[/name].
[name]Magdalena[/name] is a little too consonant-heavy, and consequently throaty, plus there’s always that slight negative connotation.

You can also get [name]Maggie[/name] from [name]Magnolia[/name], [name]Magritte[/name] and [name]Magaidh[/name].

I’m a big fan of classic [name]Margaret[/name]. [name]Margot[/name] doesn’t have that same feminine charm for me and [name]Marguerite[/name] and [name]Magdalena[/name] are a little too exotic for me to really get behind.

[name]Margaret[/name] or [name]Margot[/name]! [name]Both[/name] seems classic but simple in a way. [name]Magdalena[/name] and [name]Marguerite[/name] are a little too grand and over-the-top for my taste.

I prefer [name]Margaret[/name] with the nickname [name]Maggie[/name]. [name]Margot[/name] is so simple that I think it works best without a nickname.

I prefer [name]Margaret[/name] to get to [name]Maggie[/name]. I love [name]Maggie[/name], but I love [name]Margot[/name] more so would not use [name]Maggie[/name] as a nickname for it. And [name]Marguerite[/name] is too pretty to become [name]Maggie[/name], imo. [name]Magdalena[/name] nn [name]Maggie[/name] is fine, just nms.

I’m biased!

All the names are lovely but I slightly prefer [name]Magdalena[/name] over others. If there was such an option, I would love [name]Magnolia[/name] the best.

My favorite is [name]Margaret[/name] with nn [name]Maggie[/name]… my oldest daughter is [name]Maggie[/name] (named after my great grandmother who was [name]Maggie[/name] [name]Lea[/name])… so I went straight for [name]Maggie[/name]… I love her name

[name]Margaret[/name]'s one of my favorite names.

[name]Margot[/name] would be my first choice, followed by [name]Margaret[/name]. I also think you could get [name]Maggie[/name] from [name]Marigold[/name].

[name]Marguerite[/name]! Second choice [name]Margaret[/name].

[name]Margaret[/name] is my favorite by far!

From your list I like [name]Magdalena[/name]; though, I like [name]Magdalene[/name] (pronounced [name]MAG[/name]-duh-lin) better.

[name]MAGDALENA[/name]!!!

I can’t stand most [name]Margaret[/name] variations, sorry. I liked [name]Eva[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] when it was on your list, but honestly, while I can respect [name]Margaret[/name], [name]Margot[/name], and [name]Marguerite[/name], I don’t like them very much at all. I would love to meet a little [name]Magdalena[/name], [name]Magda[/name], or [name]Marigold[/name] with the nn [name]Maggie[/name], though.

Thanks everyone!

@tk - Ooh I love [name]Marigold[/name]! I don’t know why I didn’t think of [name]Maggie[/name] for it! It is definitely a contender now :smiley:

@tawnysaurus - I do like [name]Magdalene[/name] as well, thanks or the suggestion!
