Whimsical Middles - What's one you'd consider? Have you heard any IRL?

What is a whimsical middle name to you? What is a whimsical middle name you have heard used in real life? Is there one(s?) that you’ve considered using? Did you use a whimsical middle name? [name]How[/name] have people reacted? [name]Do[/name] you wish you had used one? [name]Do[/name] you have one? [name]Do[/name] you like it? What would you consider a good example of a whimsical middle name?

If I ever had another son his middle name would be [name]Orion[/name] which I suppose is whimsical. =]

I used to want to use hippie middle names for my kids like [name]Sunshine[/name]. But, then I didn’t because it was too reminiscent of my childhood. My parents gave us ridiculous names growing up.

I think my daughters middle name would be [name]Melisende[/name] or [name]Winter[/name]. I am still not pregnant, so there’s much more time to consider how to call my child.

My whole name is [name]Sorrel[/name] [name]Fey[/name] de Danann Watts which is pretty full on… My daughter’s name is [name]Iris[/name] [name]Ophelia[/name]. I really wanted to call her [name]Ophelia[/name] as her fn but I was worried it would be too much and it kind of sounds like “I feel ya!” in a strong Aussie accent too, but I still wish I’d been more adventurous sometimes even though [name]Iris[/name] really suits her. For next one I’m thinking of using [name]Peregrine[/name] as the fn with [name]Penn[/name] as a nn for a boy, still looking into girls names.

I love [name]Sorrel[/name] (and [name]Iris[/name] for that matter) So cool to hear of someone with the name.

I met a little girl named [name]Haley[/name] Daylight

My [name]SIL[/name] shares a fn with a month and her mn is [name]Sunshine[/name]. She isn’t overly fond of it. [name]Whimsy[/name] is fine until it becomes twee or worse.

I adore whimsical names. My children will, without a doubt, be “saddled” with them first and middle. It’s not because I set out for the names to be that way but because I love the names on their own. English gardens, brittle maps, early mornings, and fine lace are loves of mine. It’s a part of life.

For instance, when it comes to my own list:

I happen to like [name]Lila[/name], but I love [name]Lilac[/name].
[name]Delphine[/name] is nice but [name]Delphie[/name] makes me smile.
[name]Daphne[/name] is cool, but [name]Daffodil[/name] is the embodiment of spring for me.

I’d love to have one! I have a bunch on my list: [name]Averie[/name], [name]Serenity[/name], [name]Lux[/name], [name]Reese[/name], [name]Ambrose[/name]. And others I have in my long list: [name]Seraphina[/name], [name]Reverie[/name], Briesen, [name]Antoinette[/name], [name]Odette[/name], [name]Jolene[/name], [name]Gwendolen[/name], [name]Alexandrie[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name], [name]Liesel[/name], [name]London[/name], and [name]Leighton[/name].

Boys I have: [name]Avery[/name], [name]Rio[/name], [name]Sterling[/name] so far.

This article may have some good names.

I would use certain word names in the middle - [name]Meadow[/name], [name]Wren[/name], [name]Magnolia[/name], [name]Willow[/name], [name]Clover[/name]…possibly even [name]Rhapsody[/name]. Only in the middle, though - I’m naming a person, they deserve to have a substantial, real name to stand on as an adult.

I have [name]Thisbe[/name] as a middle name for [name]Violet[/name], and I’ve loved it for so long. I really hope I get to use it one day! I like pairings with classic first names and whimsy middles. Another example would be [name]Amos[/name] [name]Leander[/name], [name]Henry[/name] [name]Evander[/name], [name]Clara[/name] [name]Persephone[/name]…

I love all the names listed so far, especially [name]Thisbe[/name], [name]Clover[/name], [name]Lilac[/name] and [name]Melisende[/name]. I’m pretty determined to use a whimsical name in the middle spot if and when I have a kid. I love [name]Tigerlily[/name], [name]Tanith[/name], Arrietty, Tanaquill, [name]Circe[/name], [name]Umbrielle[/name], [name]Fay[/name], [name]Clary[/name], [name]Twyla[/name] and [name]Bohemia[/name] at the moment. I would use [name]Calico[/name] or [name]Bellerose[/name] if they worked with my middle name.

I considered using [name]Guinevere[/name] as a middle name for [name]Jane[/name]. I thought [name]Jane[/name] needed a longer, whimsical middle name. I decided against it because it seemed like it might be too much - plus, my husband was teasing me for considering it so I doubt I could have convinced him to go along with it.

A good friend of mine has the middle name “[name]Stormy[/name].” Lots of parents don’t like using names that denote “negativity” but it is so perfect for her, she wears it well!

I don’t have a whimsical name myself, but I plan on my kids having them. My top girl combos are [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Fable[/name] [name]Michelle[/name] and [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Ginger[/name] [name]Lucia[/name] and I think they’re a little whimsical

I love whimsical names on children but I recently met a 17 year old girl named [name]Ocean[/name] and it just seemed bizarre to me. Though I doubt I’d ever use one myself, I do love to dream.
[name]Reverie[/name] is simply darling, I also adore [name]Luna[/name], even [name]Whimsy[/name] or Wonder.

When I was younger I thought Nessarose - like from Wicked, would be beautiful. I still think [name]Primrose[/name] - a la Hunger Games - would be lovely but they would definitely be hard names to pull off. Fortunately they have accessible “normal” nicknames.

My daughter is a [name]Calico[/name] and I’ve had nothing but compliments about it, which surprised me considering it’s uncommon.

I’m planning on using whimsical middles, Moonbeam or Aquamarine for a girl, and Evelake for a boy.
