Whimsical Middles - What's one you'd consider? Have you heard any IRL?

I’m not brave enough to use whimsical names as first names, and I’ll be reserving the middle name spot for family names! But, I love reading the daring, adventurous and beautiful choices some Berries use in the middle!

Girls
[name]Dove[/name] - my great-great aunt was a [name]Toba[/name] in Yiddish, which means either “dove” or was a translation from the Hebrew [name]Tova[/name]. My family can’t actually agree which. She was a really cool lady. My sister wants to name a boy [name]Tobias[/name] after her, going to down the [name]Tova[/name]-translation fork in the road, so I thought it would be nice if I used [name]Dove[/name]. (And [name]Yonina[/name], in Hebrew) So it’s whimsical but not just-because? But I admit its weird.

[name]Marigold[/name] & [name]Mariposa[/name] - keep circling back to these My husband’s grandmother is a [name]Marie[/name], pronounced [name]MAR[/name]-ee, not muh-[name]REE[/name]. Whereas my own family has Goldies. [name]Marigold[/name] is so sunny and happy. I debate using it as a first or not. [name]Mariposa[/name] is on the same list. I’m not sure I’d be brave enough to use [name]Mariposa[/name] as a first, especially since we aren’t really Spanish.

I love whimsical names! I recently came across a girl around my age named [name]Fable[/name]! I was both surprised and excited to see a name like that on someone my age. It was really cute on her. Rather than people thinking it’s weird, she said she gets complements on it all the time. I asked her what her full name was too-- [name]Fable[/name] [name]Melissande[/name] [name]Bliss[/name]. I’ve had a huge name crush on [name]Fable[/name], [name]Bliss[/name], and long whimsical combinations like this since I’ve come across it in use on a real person.

Oh I’d simply adore to use [name]Thisbe[/name] as a first name. Hopefully, when I get married, my husband will agree!

I’m more of a whimsical type anyways. I’ve always seen the allure of [name]Fable[/name] and [name]Thisbe[/name] over [name]Anna[/name] or [name]Sarah[/name].

I’d love the idea if a nature based name but my SO is a very classical namer (after much protest I got him to take a quiz since he doesn’t want to talk about names since we aren’t tic or pregnant) so I doubt that will ever happen. I might get my fill in with ethnic names that reflect my great-great grandmothers heritage -> since it’s a family tradition for everyone to have one. (I’m not saying what country for privacy reasons).

I think the middle is perfect for whimsical names, especially if your baby has a common or classic first name. In fact, this might be my favourite kind of name, and I regularly look for pairings and add to my list.

Some of my current favourites:
Bloom
[name]Jubilee[/name]
Loveday
[name]Thisbe[/name] (glad its getting so much love on this board)
Ulalume

Devereux
[name]Finch[/name]
[name]Ptolemy[/name]

I have a special place in my heart for a bit of whimsy! My sons name is [name]Maddox[/name] [name]Orion[/name], and my daughters name is [name]Arden[/name] [name]Luna[/name]!

I like [name]Jubilee[/name], [name]Scout[/name] and [name]Onyx[/name] quite a bit.

I adore whimsical names, but they always seem to take the backseat to the other names I love, for some reason. The only place a particularly whimsical name appears on my short list is as a middle name for [name]Jillian[/name], which is [name]Magnolia[/name]. [name]Jillian[/name] [name]Magnolia[/name] has been on my list for ages, but other than that, whimsical names tend to stay on my long list. I still love them though.

I love ; [name]Jubilee[/name], [name]Winter[/name], [name]Dove[/name], [name]Glory[/name], [name]July[/name], [name]Galilee[/name], and [name]Scout[/name].

I know a girl named [name]Stormy[/name], and another girl named [name]Stoney[/name]. My mother almost named me [name]Autumn[/name] [name]Raine[/name] or [name]Autumn[/name] [name]Skye[/name].

I dont mind whimsical names even in the first name spot! so long as they’re not overly out-there. Eg i would consider [name]Willow[/name] whimsical but its growing in popularity i also think [name]Sapphire[/name], [name]Hazel[/name] and [name]Juniper[/name] are fine as first names. I also [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Fable[/name]! [name]How[/name] cute!!! Middle names are a great place to show off your creativity i reckon. especially if you’re a bit shy

Great replies! It’s nice to know that people are generally in favor of a little whimsy  More favorites or awesome name spottings are welcome. Thanks, everyone!

I have been seriously contemplating a whimsical word name for the past few months for a future daughters middle name. I don’t know though, it may be… too much. Or I kind of feel like, “Why should this child get this flattering name and not my first daughter?” I think you’ll see what I mean when I say the name I am considering is… Radiance. My husband wants all the kids to have “[name]Ray[/name]” In their middle name, and my daughters middle name is [name]Rain[/name]. I think another daughter could be [name]Raven[/name], and since these are both word names… I started thinking of other [name]Ray[/name] words, and came up with Radiant and Radiance.

[name]Love[/name] whimsical middles! I think middle names, since they usually aren’t used in day to day life, are allowed to have a bit of whimsy!
I like a lot of nature/word names for the middle spot - [name]Snow[/name], [name]Dove[/name], [name]Wynn[/name], [name]Aspen[/name], [name]Harbor[/name], [name]Season[/name], [name]Silver[/name] to name a few.

My nephew’s middle name is [name]Fate[/name]. That is for sure not my style.

[name]Moxie[/name] is a guilty pleasure I’d consider using in the middle spot, along with certain weird flower and/or mythology names ([name]Chrysanthemum[/name], [name]Amaryllis[/name], [name]Taliesin[/name].)

I love them, and would use them as first or middle names!

I know of children / Adults with unusual first names, I don’t know of any with unusual middles though.

[name]Love[/name] the name [name]Peregrine[/name] nn [name]Penn[/name]! I know a [name]Peregrine[/name] but he goes by [name]Pere[/name] (“[name]Perry[/name]”).

Whimsical names to me would be [name]Magnolia[/name], [name]Theodora[/name], [name]Ophelia[/name], [name]Seraphina[/name], [name]Aurelia[/name], [name]Isadora[/name], [name]Corisande[/name], [name]Cressida[/name].

I adore whimsical names for fn and esp mn. My children have obscure fn and mn, and that sort of lends whimsy…
