I read your other thread about [name]Whistler[/name] and its significance to your family. While I understand why you’d like to use it, are you sure it should be his first name? Many valid concerns were raised, imo, about its tease-ability. While your other children’s names are uncommon, they’re not as unique as [name]Whistler[/name].
Would you be interested in moving it to the middle and selecting one of your interesting family names as a middle? Not [name]Everhardt[/name]; that quickly takes on pornographic qualities (‘ever-hard’), but perhaps [name]Cabot[/name]? [name]Cabot[/name] [name]Whistler[/name] [name]Taliesin[/name], [name]Cabot[/name] [name]Douglas[/name] [name]Whistler[/name] [name]Taliesin[/name]?
I would use a combo with [name]Douglas[/name] in it. The other combos are two or three surnames in a row, and I think you need at least one name that isn’t a surname.
I love [name]Whistler[/name] and I dont think you need to worry about it. I also think you should do the double middle names - there is no siuch thing as over the top, its just honouring your family. I have one girl with one mn and one w two and while berries may pick at that, real life comes first.
Wow. I completely agree with blade. Are you guys serious? Of course it’s majorly tease-able. I’ve seen kids make fun of a “[name]Brittney[/name]” so, unless he turns out as a “popular” kid, imagine what they’re going to say about him and how it’ll affect his self-esteem. He may end up hating his name and wanting it changed, or like my younger brother, want to go by his middle name at school.
I’ll admit I was hesitant at first but I love the nn [name]Whit[/name], and it seems that you really love the name. I voted for [name]Whistler[/name] [name]Douglas[/name], that way when he does grow up, if he decides [name]Whistler[/name] is too unique for him he has a more familiar name option to fall back on.
Because [name]Whistler[/name] is such an odd name, I would give him an ordinary middle name. [name]Douglas[/name] got my vote.
I am not a fan of [name]Whistler[/name] as a first name and agree with blade and lovejaybay. When your other thread came out about the name [name]Whistler[/name], I thought you were going to get ripped to pieces for thinking of using it. I was shocked that people liked it. To me it is the same as naming your child Singer, Yodeler, Speaker, Screamer, Whisperer. I understand that your not choosing the name for the whistling aspect of it, but that’s all that comes to my mind, as well as that incredibly overplayed Whistle song by [name]Flo[/name]-[name]Rida[/name].
While I love unique names with character, [name]Whistler[/name] is a bit over the top for me. Honestly, the first thing that comes to mind is ‘meat whistler’ (and I won’t mention the definition of that). I just cannot shake that image!
I voted for [name]Whistler[/name] [name]Douglas[/name]. I like that the boys have one middle, while the girls have two. I like [name]Whistler[/name] BTW.
