Whitney for a boy

Can [name]Whitney[/name] work for a boy anymore? Its a family surname and I’d like to put it on my list but I know it’s considered a girls name now. WDYT? [name]Do[/name] you like it for a boy anyways? Does the combo [name]Whitney[/name] Aristide work?

I’ve never known of a boy name [name]Whitney[/name], and I have met several female Whitneys in my life. But, of course the “accepted” gender on names fluctuates through the years. Currently however, if it was me and I really wanted to use it, I’d probably reserve it for a middle name. just to make life a bit easier for the boy.

I love the nn [name]Whit[/name] for a boy (mainly because of a radio drama with a [name]Whit[/name] in it that I love!), but I do think it’d be really hard for a boy to pull off [name]Whitney[/name] these days! What about using the [name]Whit[/name]- part to honor your family? I think [name]Whitley[/name] or [name]Whittaker[/name] work really well for a boy…

I think it would be hard on a little boy to have a name that’s been so associated with females. I’ve never met a boy [name]Whitney[/name]. I like it in the mn spot, though, if it’s meaningful for you!!

I don’t think so :frowning: [name]Whitney[/name] seems entirely to feminine to me. I have known several females named [name]Whitney[/name] and I just cannot picture it on a girl. I like [name]Ash[/name]'s suggestions to use the [name]Whit[/name]- part of the name while using a more Masculine name.

Best Wishes

I think it would definitely have to go in the middle spot if we ever used it, I dont want to change it but I dont want to give a boy a “girls” name either.
