She is 25, a grad student studying in [name_u]London[/name_u], focusing on either archaeology or anthropology, with a very keen interest in Scandinavian things (Frozen, [name_m]Hans[/name_m] [name_m]Christian[/name_m] [name_m]Andersen[/name_m], Swedish and Danish royalty, Grieg and Sibelius, Vikings, fjords, Norse mythology, plus much more!). The university where she studies offers a program in Nordic Studies, and she’s been doing some combination of history, archaeology or anthropology, and Nordic linguistics in both undergraduate and now graduate work. She accepted the position at the [name_u]London[/name_u] university (as opposed to one in Norway, Denmark, or [name_u]Sweden[/name_u], for example) for an exciting, ongoing opportunity for students to be a part of a study taking place in northern [name_f]England[/name_f] concerning archaeology and anthropology of Vikings as it pertains to [name_m]Britain[/name_m]. She’s teaching herself to speak Old Norse, for curiosity’s sake, and is learning modern Norwegian with professional purposes. She’s got a small handful of friends, but would not be considered especially outgoing or friendly. She’s rather reserved, and a bit stoic, gentle-hearted. She has a deep desire to learn and has, from a very young age, soaked up everything she could learn. She often has her head buried in a book, and sort of has this… calming? presence about her. She can handle herself well around boys, despite the fact that she isn’t very social. Most people instantly feel at ease and at peace around her. She loves to laugh, but wouldn’t really be considered funny or silly–it takes a bit to work her out of her shell. She’s named, in part, after a good friend of her mother, who is either Swedish or Norwegian by birth (first or middle), and she has a good deal of Nordic ancestry, but didn’t discover it until after she was in university.
Anyone else? (I would’ve bumped up earlier, but it’s been a crazy/busy/sick week! I’d love to see what other names think fit this girl!)
(@summs, I’m glad you enjoyed the thread! I’m giving [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], [name_f]Freja[/name_f], [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] a second look!)
There is a girl at my (Western European) uni who is doing exactly the degree you described (Anthropology and Nordic Linguistics) and her first name is the first one of the third combo in your signature (at the “Germany” part) (sorry for describing this so awkwardly, I’m a bit concerned about privacy ahah).
Some names of Swedish girls I know: [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], [name_u]Alva[/name_u], [name_f]Linnea[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Frida[/name_f], Ylva, [name_f]Olga[/name_f], [name_f]Axelle[/name_f], [name_f]Louise[/name_f].
@nerea - no problem, I totally get it! I had actually considered that very name for her, but thought [name_f]Ava[/name_f] (or, another “E” name, [name_f]Elise[/name_f]) suited her slightly better. At least I’m not crazy–I’d sort of thought I’d created that sort of program in my mind!
I’ve actually been leaning toward naming her [name_f]Anna[/name_f]-[name_f]Sofia[/name_f] Schroder (she’ll probably get [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Anja[/name_f], [name_f]Soph[/name_f], and [name_f]Sofie[/name_f]/[name_f]Sofia[/name_f] at given points), but wasn’t 100% sure it was right, so I created the thread to get fresh ideas I might’ve missed. Can you see her as an [name_f]Anna[/name_f]-[name_f]Sofia[/name_f]? Would something like [name_f]Adelie[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Odilia[/name_f], just [name_f]Sofia[/name_f], or just [name_f]Sofie[/name_f] suit her better, do you think?
