Why are boys names so difficult?!

I used to find girls names the most difficult to chose. I had SO many boys names that I loved, and now it seems to be the other way around. I have found so many girls names recently and my list is getting so long. However, my boys list seems to get shorter.

I love unique names and I like names with good nickname options. Here’s some examples of names that I like;

[name_m]Malachi[/name_m] - [name_m]Long[/name_m] time favorite. [name_f]Love[/name_f] the nickname [name_u]Kai[/name_u].
[name_m]Lucian[/name_m]/[name_m]Luciano[/name_m] - Nickname [name_f]Lux[/name_f].
[name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] - I find this one a little hippy-ish (which is not a bad thing!).
[name_u]Zion[/name_u]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] - I love this name but not sure I have the guts to use is as a fn.
[name_m]Rocco[/name_m] - [name_f]Love[/name_f] it for a little boy but not sure I can see it on a grown man. Thoughts?
[name_u]Rio[/name_u] - I love [name_u]River[/name_u] too.
Niccolai - Nickname [name_u]Nico[/name_u].

I know a lot of these names will be people’s worst nightmare. I am looking for some fresh ideas and opinions on the ones I’ve listed.

[name_m]Malachi[/name_m] - I like this. I usually prefer the Irish [name_m]Malachy[/name_m], but the nickname [name_u]Kai[/name_u] is a bonus for [name_m]Malachi[/name_m].
[name_m]Lucian[/name_m]/[name_m]Luciano[/name_m] - Nickname [name_f]Lux[/name_f]. - [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_m]Lucian[/name_m]. [name_m]Luciano[/name_m] reminds me of Boardwalk Empire, if you’ve even seen it. nn [name_u]Lucky[/name_u] I think?
[name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] - a bit too hippy-ish for me, but I don’t mind it. For some reason it reminds me of [name_u]Rohan[/name_u], which I love.

[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] - nms
[name_m]Rocco[/name_m] - I like this. [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] might be better as far as aging?
[name_u]Rio[/name_u]/[name_u]River[/name_u] - nms
Niccolai - Nickname [name_u]Nico[/name_u] - I like this a lot. Not sure about 2 c’s… I like the look of [name_m]Nicolai[/name_m] or [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] better. [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_u]Nico[/name_u]. Another way to get there is [name_m]Dominic[/name_m].

It just occurred to me, you could probably get [name_u]Kai[/name_u] from [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] too.

Niccolai was a typing error. It was meant to be [name_m]Nicolai[/name_m]. My bad. I never though of getting [name_u]Kai[/name_u] from [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m], interesting though :).

[name_u]Lucky[/name_u] for [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] is too cute!!!

Not keen on [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] (a kid in school ruined it for me).

[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], [name_m]Malachi[/name_m], Niccolai, and [name_u]River[/name_u] I love a lot and all but [name_u]River[/name_u] are on my favorites list.

[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is very usable and pen, nix, nixon, or even onix(onyx, the stone) Awesome name with nature-ish and spiritual notes make this one of my favorites.

[name_m]Malachi[/name_m] is great b/c of of [name_u]Kai[/name_u] as the nn, and it is one of my fave biblical boy choices. [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] would be so cool.

[name_m]Nikolai[/name_m], this is my preferred spelling of the name, is so handsome and a refreshing change from the more classic choice, [name_m]Nicolas[/name_m]. [name_u]Niko[/name_u] (nee-co), [name_u]Kai[/name_u], or Koala as a nn for when he is a baby-that would be sort of too cute for some but when they are a baby you can get away with this and then as he matures he can have other nn options.

[name_u]River[/name_u] is so handsome.

[name_m]Rocco[/name_m] is my current fav for a boy - and I love [name_f]Lux[/name_f] for a boy or girl! We have very similar taste!
