Why did you choose your kids names?

[name]Bailey[/name] [name]Ashton[/name] [name]Richard[/name]: My partner came across the name [name]Bailey[/name] when we were pregnant I wanted to call him [name]Ashton[/name] as i really just fell in love with the name after seeing the butterfly effect staring [name]Ashton[/name] kutcher and knowing that the actor was named [name]Ashton[/name] (well used [name]Ashton[/name] as his stage name, it is infact his middle name) We decided to call him [name]Bailey[/name] [name]Ashton[/name] But were stuck on another name as his initials would be B.A.S so my mum then suggested adding his fathers name in to his name - So then the name [name]Richard[/name] was added. So his initials are now B.A.R.S. - Sometimes i wish i had called him another name and used bailey as a middle or waited a while to tell everyone his name as as soon as he was born my brother wen to school and was asked what his name was and he said bailey the girl he told her mother was due to have a boy can you guess what she named him?!?? But she spelt it [name]BAYLEE[/name] ( Which i absolutely hate!) As my son never gets his name spelt right now due to it. he always gets bayley- which is rather annoying! lol GRR

[name]Liberty[/name] [name]Faith[/name] [name]Arizona[/name]: [name]Liberty[/name] as my mum suggested it and it then stuck 7 i love the meaning of the name - [name]Freedom[/name]. [name]Faith[/name] again another name sort of relating to my Grandad as he passed before i had any children. And [name]Arizona[/name] was a name that was heard on greys anatomy and i loved it so then my baby girl became [name]Liberty[/name] faith [name]Arizona[/name] & she suits her name down to the ground! can say that she is the only one named liberty where i live…

Other names we will consider if we have anymore are

[name]Xavier[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name] [name]Logan[/name]
OR
[name]Phoenix[/name] [name]Xavier[/name] something

[name]Phoenix[/name]-Partner wanted to call bailey phoenix to start with- but his friend told me it was a gay mans name so put me off, shouldnt have really cos his opinion shouldn’t have mattered!
[name]Xavier[/name] cos myself and partner love the name also love x-men too!! hehe
[name]Logan[/name] - Always been a fave for me… x

[name]Rowan[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] - [name]Rowan[/name] is a hint to red being my favorite color. It’s also a beautiful tree. She was born [name]Jan[/name] 31st, which is the [name]Rowan[/name] month in the Celtic calendar (i’m half irish). Also a big fan of unisex names done right. [name]Josephine[/name] is a nod to both my and SO’s grandfathers being named [name]Joseph[/name].

[name]Teagan[/name] [name]Dahlia[/name] - [name]Teagan[/name] is another Irish name which means ‘[name]Little[/name] [name]Poet[/name]’ and my SO’s mother is a published poet. [name]Dahlia[/name] is the national flower of Mexico (i’m half Mexican) and also happens to be a popular name in [name]Israel[/name] (SO is half Jewish).

So we kept with nature related names, similar origins, and also honored family members in somewhat creative ways.

Already have name ideas in case we have a third someday.

Girl - [name]Clover[/name] [name]Zosia[/name]
Boy - [name]Lennon[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] or [name]Miles[/name] [name]Page[/name]

The boys names are a nod to my music obsession. And the girl name is Irish/Polish. Represents me and SO’s backgrounds.

I have 3 girls…

  1. Brynley [name]Haven[/name]- loved the first name and it’s two letters different from daddy, [name]Bradley[/name]. [name]Haven[/name] was a contender for the middle name spot but when baby came 10 weeks early due to eclampsia, my husband said he needed a safe haven. (The bible talks about [name]Jesus[/name] calming the storm and bringing them to their desired haven.) After that, each middle name came from scripture.

  2. [name]Windsor[/name] [name]Grace[/name]- not much of a story here. We liked the name and I liked how the nicknames [name]Bryn[/name] and [name]Win[/name] rhyme

  3. [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Dove[/name]- the beginnings of each name honor my grandparents [name]Robert[/name] and [name]Doris[/name]. I came across the name [name]Dove[/name] the weekend my nana died and it just felt right because: it brought me peace to honor her, doves mate for life and my grandparents were together 60 years, and the dove brought back the first signs of new life after the flood and this baby was a new life. To top it off, I found a [name]Christmas[/name] card from last year from my grandparents and on the front… a dove.

Well to be completely honest [name]Adam[/name] and [name]Max[/name] were just two names we both really liked. Their middle names are both of our father’s names ([name]Nathaniel[/name] and [name]Alexander[/name]).

I have no children yet, but my top picks for girl and boy are:

  • [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Jayne[/name]
I’ve loved [name]Eliza[/name] for as long as I can remember. Plus, it’s a literary name. [name]Jayne[/name] is a family name going back generations and she would be the third generation with the middle name.

  • [name]James[/name] [name]Thomas[/name]
[name]James[/name] is such a classic name and [name]Thomas[/name] is my brothers middle name.

[name]Don[/name]'t have any children (and hopefully wont have for another ten-fifteen years), but my favourite names:

  • [name]Amaury[/name] [name]Philip[/name] [name]Theo[/name]: The first time I saw the name [name]Amaury[/name], I thought :o and immediately knew that it was gonna be the name of my firstborn son (if I get any - which I strongly hope I do). I just think it’s an incredibly beautiful name, and pronounced in French it’s just absolutely gorgeous. [name]Philip[/name] is actually for [name]Prince[/name] [name]Philip[/name], the [name]Duke[/name] of Edinburgh, who I (as the huge royalist I am) think is a good namesake and rolemodel. However, if I was to change any of the names, that I would be the one I would be least sorry to change. [name]Theo[/name] would be his nickname, and I just think it’s a nice name, really. It’s a nice finish.

  • [name]Archibald[/name] [name]Charles[/name] [name]Inigo[/name]: [name]Archibald[/name] is just a really lovely name to be honest, and I love the nickname [name]Archie[/name], I also think it goes nicely with [name]Amaury[/name]. [name]Charles[/name] is for my step-great-grandfather who meant a lot to me. Finally, [name]Inigo[/name] is after my favourite architect, the legendary [name]Inigo[/name] [name]Jones[/name].

  • [name]Felix[/name] [name]James[/name] Ivik: [name]Felix[/name] and [name]James[/name] are just names that I think are very handsome (especially together). Ivik is a Greenlandic name, and I’m 1/4 Greenlandic, so I think that’s suiting. It was either Ivik (meaning “grass”) or Nanoq (meaning “polar bear”).

  • [name]Asa[/name] [name]Oscar[/name] [name]Hugo[/name]: All just names I like :stuck_out_tongue:

  • [name]Anna[/name] [name]Ingrid[/name] [name]Alexandra[/name]: [name]Anne[/name] is a commonly used name in my family, and my great-grandmother’s sister, who was like a great-grandmother to me, was named [name]Anna[/name]. As I plan to settle somewhere else in Europe, I think [name]Ingrid[/name] is a nice tribute to Scandinavia. Also, [name]Queen[/name] [name]Ingrid[/name] of Denmark was a very wise and inspirational lady. [name]Alexandra[/name] is just a name that goes extremely well with [name]Ingrid[/name].

  • [name]Maude[/name] [name]Olga[/name] [name]Marina[/name]: [name]Maude[/name] Varnæs is the best character from one of the most iconic Danish television shows ever made, and I’ve loved the name ever since I watched the show for the first time. [name]Olga[/name] is a nice, Slavic name I fell in love me when I, in my pre-teen years, “discovered” the Romanov family, and I just really love the sound of it. [name]Marina[/name] is just a gorgeous name.

  • [name]Hester[/name] Ivalo [name]Patricia[/name]: [name]Hester[/name] is one of my guilty pleasure names. [name]Terrence[/name] Rattigan’s [name]Hester[/name] [name]Collyer[/name] is such a will-strong and fiesty woman, I don’t think it’s possible not to love the name after having seen The Deep [name]Blue[/name] Sea. Ivalo is a Greenlandic name to honour my Greenlandic ancestry. [name]Patricia[/name] is a beautiful “normal” name to level the two other names out.

  • [name]Saga[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] Rhaenys: [name]Saga[/name] is again, a tribute to my Scandinavian roots, coming from the Norse mythology. [name]Caroline[/name] is a beautiful, classic name. Finally, Rhaenys is my favourite name from ASOIAF, and Rhaenys Targaryen is also one of my favourite characters (along with her sister, Visenya).

My first daughter is Karin Renee (pronounced kuh-rin). Renee is my sister’s middle name and I wanted to honor her. My husband didn’t like any of the names I suggested so I told him to come up with some. He came home with the names Alyssa and Karin. Karin Renee is a beautiful name and was perfect. Pronunciation we had, spelling took a little figuring out. We went with the spelling my husband remembered and that made the most sense. He went to school with a girl by the name of Karin, that’s how he came up with it.

Our second daughter is Delaney Mae. Delaney to honor my father. His name didn’t give much to work with for a granddaughter so I used a name that had LANE (part of his surname/my maiden) in it as my way to honor him. I really don’t like Lane for a girl and love it for a boy but decided against waiting on the possibility of a son in the future, especially given my many miscarriages. So I went back to the baby book and found Delaney, then went online to see how it was pronounced thinking maybe I was pronouncing it wrong. I was pronouncing it very wrongly and turned out I loved the correct pronunciation. Mae my husband suggested, it’s just a name we both like, and I love the nickname Laney Mae. Turned out Mae is a family name on my husband’s side which is a nice bonus.

Baby boy due in July will be Cooper Lorraine. My husband came up with it entirely and we both love it. He looked up Industrial Revolution names and found Cooper. Lorraine is his very dear grandmother’s name. A cooper is a person who makes barrels, as in wine barrels, and my husband’s grandparent’s, Charles and Lorraine, had a vineyard growing wine grapes that my husband grew up on. So it is also a name full of family significance which makes me love it even more. Husband is named after Charles so it seems fitting his child is named after Lorraine. I felt I had the lead and really the biggest say in naming our daughters so this time I wanted him to choose the name. He chose the perfect name!

I was named [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] - [name]Olivia[/name] because my dad was adamant on something Shakespearean, but mum wasn’t up for [name]Portia[/name] or [name]Winter[/name]. [name]Sarah[/name] is after my great great grandmother, [name]Nancy[/name] [name]Sarah[/name].

I don’t really have a ‘‘top’’ list for my future children. I have lots which I love and are very meaningful, but I won’t choose a first name until I’ve met my child (hopefully not for another 10+ years), and the middle names (either 1 or 2) will be personal or family-related and decided regarding what is import to me at the time of their birth. But I digress.
These are the ones I’d currently consider using…

[name]Emmett[/name] [name]Nicholas[/name] [name]Winston[/name] - [name]Emmett[/name] has been my favourite for a while. It has the right balances of vintage-modern and softness/strength. [name]Nicholas[/name] is honouring [name]Nichol[/name], an old family surname, and [name]Colin[/name], another very important name to me. [name]Winston[/name], I just love, especially with the [name]Churchill[/name] association.
[name]Barnaby[/name] [name]Jack[/name] - [name]Barnaby[/name] because it sounds so adorably British and old. He would be [name]Barney[/name] for short. [name]Jack[/name] was my great grandfather’s name, something my mother wanted me to be called and it’s always been in the back of my mind for a little boy.
[name]Wilfred[/name] [name]Alec[/name] - [name]Wilfred[/name] as in [name]Owens[/name]. I’ve always adored his poetry. I am also obsessed with Wilf/[name]Wolf[/name]/[name]Freddie[/name] as nicknames ([name]Fred[/name] was my great grandad’s name too). [name]Alec[/name] is my beloved grandfather’s name. I’m fairly sure it will be used in some way for my firstborn boy.
[name]Leonard[/name] [name]Oisin[/name] - [name]Leonard[/name] as in [name]Cohen[/name]… just because. And it’s such a lovely classic. [name]Oisin[/name] would be after my little boy’s Irish heritage.

[name]Iris[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] - This has been my favourite for a long time. [name]Iris[/name] is just so beautiful and lively. [name]Amelia[/name] is yet again another family name, and was almost my name. I just love the sound of them together.
[name]Margaret[/name]/[name]Greta[/name] [name]Ophelia[/name] - [name]Margaret[/name] is both of my grandmother’s names, she would probably go by [name]Greta[/name] daily, if not [name]Greta[/name] alone. I love the sound and history of [name]Ophelia[/name].
Estella [name]Nancy[/name] - I’ve loved [name]Estella[/name] since I first read Great Expectations. I just think the sound and meaning is gorgeous. [name]Nancy[/name] is after my great great grandmother who I’m also partly named after.
[name]Eilidh[/name] [name]Agnes[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - [name]Eilidh[/name] sounds so happy and cheerful to me, and is distinctly Celtic which I like since she’d be part Irish/part Scottish. [name]Agnes[/name] is a family name, as is [name]Rose[/name].

[name]One[/name] daughter, [name]Rosalind[/name] Illyria [name]Beatrice[/name]. We had a list of five names going in, but when we saw her we knew she was a little [name]Rose[/name].
[name]Rosalind[/name] is for [name]Shakespeare[/name]'s play As You Like It, it’s one of [name]Shakespeare[/name]'s best heroines and my boyfriend really wanted a [name]Rose[/name] name for [name]Baba[/name]. Illyria is for Twelfth [name]Night[/name] which is my favourite play, and the name makes me happy. [name]Beatrice[/name] is for [name]Beatrice[/name] Portinari, [name]Dante[/name]'s muse & object of one of my favourite Rossetti paintings; [name]Beata[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name], as well as one of my favourite Cocteau Twins songs and Much [name]Ado[/name] About Nothing.
We did consider [name]Rosalind[/name] [name]Alba[/name] Illyria, but decided to save [name]Alba[/name] for a future daughter.

I was named after [name]Hayley[/name] [name]Mills[/name] and [name]Alannah[/name] [name]Miles[/name], two celebrities my parents liked.

My first born, [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Grace[/name] was named because, my fiance and I were throwing around names like [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name], [name]Anna[/name], and [name]Fallyn[/name](to honour his Irish heritage), and nothing suited our last name the way we wanted, or it was mocked relentlessly, so we decided against it. Her name was [name]Fallyn[/name], until I was about 8 months pregnant, and his family started to make fun of her name. We basically went back to the drawing board to see what we liked better than [name]Fallyn[/name] (if anything). While we were doing this, I ended up going through some of my old things, and came across a [name]Felicity[/name] American Girl [name]Doll[/name]. I had always loved the name, but had never considered it for our daughter until then. When he came home from work, I told him the name, and we both knew it was perfect. [name]Grace[/name] came from our love of beautiful, yet simplistic middle names.

The other names we’ve chosen;

[name]Robert[/name] [name]Patrick[/name]-we’re both huge soccer/football fans, and I support Manchester United. [name]Bobby[/name] [name]Charlton[/name] (who’s fn is [name]Robert[/name]), is one of my favourite players, and he’s a big part of [name]Man[/name] United history, after surviving a plane crash that killed 8 of his teammates. He’s an inspirational person, and we decided [name]Robert[/name](nn [name]Bobby[/name]) was the right name for a son, if we have one. The middle name, [name]Patrick[/name], comes from my fiance’s father, who passed away when my fiance was 19.

[name]Duncan[/name] [name]Edward[/name]- another footballer name. [name]Duncan[/name] Edwards was the best friend and teammate of [name]Bobby[/name] [name]Charlton[/name]. [name]Duncan[/name] was considered one of the best up and coming stars, and, although he didn’t die in the initial plane crash, his injuries are what killed him, 2 weeks later. We decided that, if we have boys, honouring Manchester United’s finest players from the [name]Busby[/name] Babes (the team’s nickname, 8 of the [name]Busby[/name] Babes were killed in the Munich [name]Air[/name] Disaster) would make a nice sibling set for them.

[name]Melody[/name] [name]Ava[/name]- we both fell in love with the name [name]Melody[/name], as we both love music, and thought it was perfect for another daughter. [name]Ava[/name] is a name we love as well, but, since it’s 13th where we’re from, we opted against it and used it as a mn.

[name]Verity[/name] [name]Louise[/name] - [name]Verity[/name]'s a virtue name I’m in love with, and, since [name]Felicity[/name] is also a virtue name, that they’d make a cute pairing. [name]Verity[/name], [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Bobby[/name] and [name]Duncan[/name] all sounded like a nice sibling set to my fiance and I, so, we’ve decided that our next daughter would be named this.
