Why does everyone hate Kylie?

[name_m]Just[/name_m] curious… I understand it sounds “tryndee” and there are hundreds of “kree8tyv” spellings for it, but it is a legitimate name, and I find it quite cute! Sure, it sounds slightly little girl-ish, but it is a real name with history!

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like this name? Why or why not?
What’s your fav spelling??

I don’t know, honestly. There’s a lot of snobbery, I think, behind the hate of it. I prefer [name_f]Kaylee[/name_f], but [name_f]Kylie[/name_f] is okay

I personally don’t like it but it is one of the “original” trendy names, which I find much more appealing than any [name_m]Kyree[/name_m], Brylinn or Jayxson.

I actually like [name_f]Kylie[/name_f]. I have a good friend named [name_f]Kylie[/name_f]. She told me her name means boomerang and I had never heard that so I thought to myself “yeah, okay” but it’s actually true. That makes it more appealing, that it is a legit name with an actual meaning. I agree, it is unfortunate that it appears so trendy. It’s a shame really.

For me the cuteness is the problem. It’s too cutesy and I can’t see it on an adult. I also don’t like K names.

I don’t hate it either. [name_m]Just[/name_m] not a huge fan. My taste veers more toward classic/traditional names and names with literary or historical meaning.

Also not a fan of any name worn by a Kardashian (sorry).

Could I be one of the Berries that actually likes this name? I think it has Aboriginal roots, which is pretty cool.

I do like [name_f]Kylie[/name_f]. It sounds more feminine than cute to me. It might be one of those dated names in 20-30 years though. Most Kylies will be middle aged and old lady sounding someday.

It’s just not my style. And I think it sounds too cutesy.

For me, I think it feels little girlish, not very sophisticated, a bit 1990s dated. I think it reminds me of the [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] boom in the late 90s when every girl’s favorite name was some [name_u]Kay[/name_u]/[name_m]Ky[/name_m]/Key variant. I don’t hate it, but it doesn’t feel very 2014 for me, and as far as dated 1990s names it’s not at the top of the list for me either because of the juvenile aspect. I do prefer it over something like [name_f]Miley[/name_f], which is too pop culture associated, or something like Reyluh which is too made up for me. It’s just not my taste.

I think you answered your own question. Berries don’t like because of the trendiness factor. I think that, like previous poster said, it is lumped into the [name_f]Kylie[/name_f], [name_f]Kaylie[/name_f], [name_m]Keelie[/name_m], [name_f]Kaylin[/name_f] trend. Plus it does sound a little cutesy. I don’t hate it, but I don’t like it either.

It’s very cutesy and trendy. To me, it’s a very 80s name.
