Made me think of scientist [name_m]Mendel[/name_m], then the word vandalism.
Sounds either made up or at least extremely exotic.

I believe its swedish & a form of wendel which behind baby names is saying means vandal like you thought of.
According to BehindTheName it is the Swedish feminine form of [name_m]Wendel[/name_m] and is pronounced “[name_m]VENN[/name_m]-deh-lah”. It doesn’t seem to be a very popular name. Less than 0.260% usage in 2008.
